@AnthonyDiComo This is Mauricio’s chance to really break out, in his natural position. Could be the best thing that’s happened to the Mets

The Mets don't have a clear timetable yet on Francisco Lindor's calf injury, but they expect him to miss significant time. It's more serious than Juan Soto's was. Ronny Mauricio is going to get a long run at shortstop to prove himself in Lindor's absence, per Carlos Mendoza.

@NYNJHarper An extended absence for Lindor is probably just what the Mets need. Bring up Mauricio and let him play his natural position at SS.

Column from Citi for sny.tv: You could feel the collective sigh of relief in the Mets' clubhouse, and yet the Lindor calf injury tempered the vibe. Mendoza, in particular, seemed to fear an extended absence and the trouble it could bring. tinyurl.com/ye2ub93v

Would cut Vientos some slack if he had admitted to trying to force the action/end losing streak. But I was standing there as he spoke and he seemed convinced he was right to "follow my instincts," despite his lack of speed. Mendoza can't let it go unaddressed, at least privately.
John Harper@NYNJHarper

Credit to Vientos for game-winner Mets needed, but surprising in clubhouse that he didn't seem to have any regret over running through stop sign in 6th, getting thrown out easily at plate: "I saw the stop sign but I was following my instincts. I'm always going to be aggressive."

Mark Vientos said running through Tim Leiper's stop sign had nothing to do with the losing streak "I was just following my instincts. Once I saw the ball was hit off the wall, I was like I'm going to go score on that"

I asked FDA Commissioner Marty Makary if the promising new signs about the mRNA-based vaccine for pancreatic cancer made HHS reconsider its decision to cancel half a billion dollars' worth of federal funding for mRNA vaccine projects.

Hard to explain what’s going on right now. Tonight felt like the night to stop the tailspin. Up 3-0, McLean dominating…then it unraveled again. Really feels like an anything that can go wrong, will go wrong situation. A lot of questions, no answers with things spiraling fast.

The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is in final preparations for an early September launch, eight months AHEAD of schedule and UNDER budget. This milestone is the result of more than a decade of dedication and millions of hours of work by NASA and our industry partners. Their commitment is what’s making this moment possible and helping drive Gold Standard Science. Roman will help answer some of the biggest questions in science, investigating dark matter, dark energy, and the structure of the universe. Its images will be so large and detailed, there isn’t a screen in existence big enough to display them. This is just the beginning.

After nearly two decades, NASA's next-generation spacesuits remain incomplete. Today, the Agency continues to face delays and is reliant on Axiom Space to develop both the Artemis lunar suits and updated ISS suits. Read our new report to learn more: go.nasa.gov/4cGjdRT

Very much appreciate the OIG work. As I posted months ago, NASA is not taking a passive role in any component of America’s return to the lunar surface and building a Moon base. We are reviewing where NASA can do better, how we can provide relief where appropriate to burdensome requirements, where we can expand capabilities over time (Apollo 11’s EVA profile was very different than Apollo 17), and where we can help industry by inserting NASA SMEs and driving the intended outcomes. I am confident that when NASA is ready to land on the Moon in 2028, our astronauts will be wearing Axiom suits. There will always be lessons learned as we improve across NASA and industry, and we need to be mindful of the contracting approach to stimulate a market versus jumping to an as-a-service model where NASA may be the only customer for the foreseeable future. That places a significant capital burden on providers while they wait for additional demand to materialize. A successful approach for commercial crew and cargo, underpinned by launch, does not mean it is applicable to every space-related service. The orbital and lunar economy is inevitable. We just need to be thoughtful in our approach to sustainably enable it.

Only one chance in this lifetime… Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him. I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.
