I'm Jewish, British & 64 All my life, I wondered how the Holocaust could have happened. I understood that Hitler & other leaders were EVIL, but how did millions of ordinary people go along with it? NOW, seeing how so many in the West rationalise & defend the Gaza Genocide, I think I have my answer and it is profoundly disturbing

@MattWoosie That's a very moving article, Matt. I'm one of 4 generations of Palace fans - my grandad took my dad, my dad took me, now I go with my son. It connects us across the generations. I'm sorry for the loss of your dad.

While the world’s media obsesses over every spit and fart from the White House over Iran, and Trump’s endless commentary on talks and deals and negotiations, the 🇷🇺 🇺🇦 war he said he would solve in 24 hours continues unabated … and in addition to benefiting from the oil price rise and lifting of sanctions Putin has also unleashed the largest 24 hour aerial attack on Ukraine since the war began. Almost 1000 drones. A UNESCO world heritage site hit. A maternity hospital hit. Residential buildings hit. Several killed. Dozens injured. Barely registers on the news. This war must not be forgotten

@bronwengwriter That's shocking, but not surprising given our experience of late deliveries. Hope you didn't miss any important appointments.

@StigAbell I'm 65 years old and sometimes worry about how I'll feel when I stop working. Thanks for talking about it.

Lots of people got in touch today. Those (most often men) in their middle age who confess to losing a sense of purpose, feeling like their precarious job was their only identity. The message is talk to others, realise you’re not alone and we can get through it together.

Former England cricketer would still be alive today if he had received more support from the ECB, believes his widow Amanda Thorpe. @StigAbell says he thinks about the tragedy all the time. @HobbsworldXI | #TimesRadio

I’m sure I’m not alone in deploring the sulphurous, near lynch mob atmosphere that Farage and his many media outriders are creating in linking asylum seekers as part of ‘ lawless Britain’. There are issues but much of this is extravagant poisonous hyperbole. Time to say so.

“Nothing can justify what's going on in Gaza right now." Trauma surgeon Morgan McMonagle, who worked in Gaza this year, tells @krishgm he’s angry that the West is “allowing” the crisis to unfold.

How many more babies have to die before there’s a ceasefire ? “I fear that we are facing an exponential increase in malnutrition for children,” says UNRWA Director of Health Dr. Seita after the death of Salam, 7 months old, earlier this week. UNRWA health teams had given her emergency treatment, but that was not enough. Acute malnutrition among young children was rarely seen in the Gaza Strip prior to the war. Without sustained food, nutrients, water, and sanitary living conditions — more children will die. The Israeli-imposed siege that started over four months ago must be lifted. #CeasefireNow
