Josef Prusa of Prusa Research has raised serious concerns about Bambu Lab’s Bambu Studio slicer software.
The program, a fork of the open-source PrusaSlicer, incorporates a closed-source networking plugin that Prusa describes as an unauditable “black box” downloaded from a CDN and capable of remote replacement.
Prusa says this is dangerous because Chinese laws require companies to help their intelligence agencies and share encryption keys, and slicers handle sensitive 3D design files used in research labs, universities, and defense work.
He also claims that Bambu Lab is breaking the open-source license rules by adding this closed part.

Un desarrollador publicó en open source una herramienta llamada Spooty. Le das la URL de una playlist de Spotify y descarga cada canción en tu máquina. En MP3. Con los metadatos completos, las portadas, todo.
Sin algoritmo que elimine una canción sin avisarte. Sin "este contenido no está disponible en tu región". Sin suscripción mensual para seguir accediendo a lo que llevas años escuchando.
Lo que hace en concreto:

Hi. I'm fully aware that when it's me talking, it's easy to discount as crying. Fair, I have skin in this game. UX feedback is always welcome though, would love to hear specifics on what's bugging you.
But here's the thing. Nobody else is willing or able to cover this. Willing, because anyone with sponsorship or affiliate income can be banned from 95% of the desktop market overnight. China is that 95%. We are the remaining 5%. The only people who could talk about this also can't, except for us.
Able, because you can't even fact-check the subsidy stuff without a Chinese phone, bank account, and residential address.
I'm game to have a real conversation, full context on the laws, subsidies, and what it means for the Western market. Are you going to any upcoming events? Or want to visit us in Delaware? Door's open, happy to sit down in person. After that, I'd love to hear if you still think it's just crying.

@jlstelly @beyoncegarden Citizenship and language aren‘t that important. Noone cares about your ancestry. You can be an American, move to to Europe and live here for a few years, get to know/live the culture. Then you can call yourself German, French whatever. Haven‘t lived here? Not European.

@erosbrousson This type of credit score also exists in Germany, this is not solely a US thing. A good *credit* score is based on experience with *credits*. If you don't have or take any then you have no good credit score. It's not that hard to understand :)

It's ok, Europeans won't be able to afford 4 day weekends when they have to start providing for their own defenses instead of relying on the US.
Eventually Europe will have to decide whether to pay for their own defenses or keep wasting money on open borders and mass social programs.. or take a shortcut and just surrender to the Muslim Brotherhood.
Sadly, I suspect, Europe will choose surrender when given the choice.

I think i invented the best personality test. Hear me out: 1. Take the word "gargoyle". If you HAD to class them, would gargoyles be more kinky or vanilla? What about more chad or frumpy? Are they more chiller or builder? I had people vote a series of 6 binary questions for every word I could think of, and then ended up with a huge pile of correlated words. Like: If you look at the KINKY, CHAD, CHILL category, you get a bunch of the words that got voted into that same concept. So - what about *you*? Vote *yourself* through the gates, and you'll find yourself landed in a pile of all the other words that got voted the same as you! That's how I got 'the operator'.
