Once Zuffa Boxing goes full UBO they can't promote world title fights. They'll say otherwise, but they can't. UBO system is a silo that delivers promotional belts. World championship boxing is a separate track. That's what TKO wanted. This is the "choice" they're offering boxers.

The fact that the boxing media can't even cover that tells you everything. They're too busy with Jake Paul hot takes and whatever the trivial outrage of the day is. Meanwhile the most fundamental structural shift in the history of American boxing is going to a floor vote and the people who cover this sport for a living are nowhere. If you sat this out — if you had a platform and a byline and you chose not to pick up the phone — you forfeit the right to ever discuss anything of substance in this sport again. You don't get to write about fighter pay. You don't get to write about commission reform. You don't get to write about the state of boxing. You had your chance. It was this bill. And you blew it.

Pretty hilarious situation where they go and collect sanctioning fees and then strip him. Don’t know how else you look at this other than IBF being incredibly hypocritical. Some of the alphabet belt sanctioning bodies are an absolute joke and embarrassing.

@EverythingBoxi2 @jaiopetaia1 is a great fighter and he’s a true warrior, am a big fan, but it was a terrible decision to allow his team to get him to sign to Zuffa when he’s desperate to become Undisputed and Zuffa don’t recognise the authentic belts. I hope he can leave asap.

🚨 OPETAIA OFFICIALLY STRIPPED OF IBF TITLE ✅ Per an IBF statement, Jai Opetaia has now officially been stripped of his cruiserweight world title. The sanctioning body withdrew sanction of Opetaia's title defense against Brandon Glanton just days before it was supposed to take place when, in their opinion, it became apparent that the Zuffa belt was more than the "trophy or token of recognition" that it was supposed to be. Opetaia chose to proceed with the Glanton bout and thus loses his IBF title.
