It's understanding the difference between the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God. God put the Jews on hold 2,000 years ago, but after the Rapture of the Church, He will again turn His attention back to them. Rejecting all images would contradict God’s own instructions and the reality of the Incarnation. Also, when you kiss a photo of your mom or salute a flag, you’re not worshiping paper or cloth, the honor passes to the person or reality it represents.
