@AGHamilton29 I’m not sure that’s what happening here. Even Trump said we were close to a deal. While perhaps the Iranians are changing terms or being obstinate on final points, there is real concern that Trump is entering into a bad deal and clearly pressure on him (from Senators etc).

I hope people understand what’s happening because it’s been the same story over and over again.
The Islamic Republic and their allies leak their preferred details as if they are agreed to western sources. Then when U.S. refuses to agree to those absurd terms and insists we stick to the deal that had already been under discussion, they claim the U.S. is backing out of the deal.
Then they blame America or Israeli influence for the lack of a deal instead of The Islamic Republic making unreasonable demands for a settlement after they lost the military fight and are facing an economic crisis.
We saw the same thing with Gaza repeatedly.

I have still not seen a singe criticism of the Iran war that -- had the critics' advice been followed instead -- would not eventually result in Iran having nuclear weapons and the intercontinental ballistic missiles to carry them, while backing its various terrorist proxies.

You know what? When there are terrorist attacks in the US by extremists I’d prefer that the same politicians and podcasters who egg them on with non stop inflammatory rhetoric and by endorsing Hamas rallies and who refuse to condemn phrases like “Globalize the intifada” and who blame everything on Jews don’t then try to act surprised or sympathetic when these attacks happen. It’s insulting and you’re not fooling anybody. I’d rather Mamdani be more like his wife who probably already smashed the like button a billion times and threw a party at Gracie Mansion. At least she owns it. Give me the straight forward hatred rather than the hypocrisy.

The attack on Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan is horrifying. My thoughts are with the congregation and all who are shaken by this act of antisemitic violence. I am continuing to closely monitor the situation. Out of an abundance of caution, the NYPD will continue to deploy high-visibility patrols to Jewish religious and cultural institutions across the five boroughs.

The Democratic response today to the Iran news isn’t exactly inspiring me to give them even the scintilla of a reason to consider voting for them for the first time in my adult life. Quite the opposite. Where are the sane reasonable intermediates between two such awful extremes?

There’s some truth to this.
Progressives tell themselves their problem is not w/Jews but Zionists. They intellectualize their hate.
Right-wing antisemites’ antisemitism is more naked, medieval, unvarnished — and therefore harder to conceal. It forces a reckoning.

Whatever happens next, the fact that Trump got the hostages out -- something the vast majority of Israelis believe to be true -- is just a massive accomplishment. I am skeptical about this "everlasting peace" stuff because of, well, history. But this is a great day for the US, Trump, Israel, the Palestinians, and the region, and especially for the families of the living hostages.
