This is shameful and unprecedented. Everyone who believes in democracy and the empowerment of tribal communities is disheartened.
The pain and anguish expressed by Rashtrapati Ji, who herself hails from a tribal community, has caused immense sadness in the minds of the people of India.
The TMC Government of West Bengal has truly crossed all limits. Their administration is responsible for this insult to the President.
It is equally unfortunate that a subject as important as Santal culture is treated so casually by the West Bengal Government.
The office of the President is above politics and the sanctity of this office should always be respected. One hopes better sense prevails among the West Bengal Government and TMC.

@MSEDCL Dear MSEDCL, do you think we have not done it? We infact called on 1912, electricity is not yet resumed and if this is a situation in Navi Mumbai I doubt what is happening in rural areas. This is new India where we fight for basic needs and pay heavy taxes?

Response to a Notice is being asked to be submitted by 26.01.2026 - a National Holiday!!
Will the AO be working on this same date ? Or taxpayers and professionals should now work on National Holidays too!
AO can take 100 days to reply to our submissions. But AOs give strict timelines - sometimes just even 1-2 days for assessee to reply!
Also AO has arbitrary power to accept or reject adjournment request as per his wishes!
How is this fair ?
There must be strict timelines for BOTH AO & Assessee to make submissions and to reply to those submissions!
#Budget2026 reform needed on this aspect!

Official response from the Income Tax Department:
Return is under processing and may be processed within 9 months from the end of the financial year.
📆 Translation:
Refund timeline extends comfortably till December 2026.
Grievance status: CLOSED
Issue status: Still open
Now for the most efficiently designed part of the system:
When the Department delays your refund, you may receive interest at 0.5% per month (subject to conditions).
When the taxpayer delays advance tax, interest is charged at 1% per month.
Same delay.
Different rates.
Perfect symmetry from only one side.

✔️ Only ₹6,000 PPF interest shown as exempt
Yet refund is kept on hold citing “unusual/incorrect deductions” and the taxpayer is warned that not revising/updating may invite scrutiny - (2nd time communication)
Holding ITR processing may be Legally permissible, but in such cases it seems ethically wrong!!
When zero-deduction returns are flagged, the flaw may lie in the risk model, not the taxpayer.
Technology should deter misuse but not at cost of troubling honest compliance.
