@CoryBMorgan No. You’ve ruined the country. “Maybe, possibly, hopefully” is just doublespeak for “we’re full of shit but here’s the carrot.” Disgraceful.

Straw poll time. Has the Alberta/Ottawa agreement to maybe, possibly, hopefully approve a pipeline in a year and a half made you less inclined to vote for independence in a referendum? Yes or no.

@coreyhoganyyc Notwithstanding is one of the very few tools the Provinces have at their disposal to protect themselves against the idiocy that’s inflicted on the country by a government determined to set the country on fire.

Three more things Peter Lougheed said about using the notwithstanding clause: 1⃣ "A simple majority does not appear adequate." 2⃣ "In my mind, [pre-empting judicial review] is undemocratic." 3⃣ “I would hope that the notwithstanding clause would be used very, very rarely.” Unfortunately, the Alberta government invoked the notwithstanding clause four times in the last year, each time pre-emptively, and each time with a simple majority, rather than the higher 60% threshold Lougheed preferred. Nobody is suggesting removing the notwithstanding clause. There are complicated constitutional issues at play but it is inaccurate and misleading to imply Peter Lougheed would support its use in a way he explicitly said he opposed. The courts are the appropriate place for these arguments.
Danielle Smith@ABDanielleSmith

The Notwithstanding Clause is integral to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and an unassailable provincial constitutional right. Alberta Premier Peter Lougheed insisted it be included to protect the autonomy of provinces to uphold the values and priorities of the people they represent from decisions of activist courts. In Alberta, we have used it carefully and lawfully to stand up for the parental right to be involved in their children’s lives, to protect children so they can make important health decisions as adults, to ensure fairness in sport, and to keep students learning in the classroom. We are extremely disappointed that Minister Sean Fraser would risk national unity and a foundational principle of our constitution by attempting to attack the use of the notwithstanding clause by sovereign provincial governments.

@CanadianModera1 Did you just seriously say “Democracy is making a comeback”? This has been the most wildly undemocratic period in Canadian history. Voting has been demonstrated to be completely pointless. It’s a monstrous perversion of the democratic process.

The push-back against populism is growing in strength. Orbán, Poilievre, MAGA, Reform in the UK, and Meloni have all faced defeat or push-back. Voters are choosing stability over slogans. Democracy is making a come back.

I’m ready to fight like hell for this country, and against anyone trying to tear it apart. The richest man in the world wants Canada to become the 51st state and is now amplifying Alberta separatism. So let’s ask the question: Who is funding this movement? Albertans deserve to know.

@MarcNixon24 Canada has lost the plot. Looking at ways to reduce spending isn’t even part of the discussion anymore. Deliver the biggest deficit budget ever, send 10x that amount of money abroad, but then they’re up in arms over something that would actually help Canadians.

It literally took less than a minute to disprove your claim. Be better than this. Standing up for young Canadians is clearly not a priority for Pierre. It's foolish to support a "leader" when his words don't match his actions. In this case his voting records.

Pierre Poilievre is the only federal leader who is standing up for young Canadians and offering practical Conservative solutions to the many destructive policies the Liberals have implemented over the past decade. This is a man who deserves to be Canada's next Prime Minister.

@Brunet14Mario @womanxxf @cbcwatcher @CPC_HQ @DimitrisSoudas This is what is known as a “conflict of interest” and, perhaps, should disqualify a Chinese National Canadian (really??) from running point, for Canada, on China. That’s insanity. Pointing out insanity should be a good thing.

Stefanovich "Yes, but can you please explain your comments at the industry committee?" Ma "I have no comment at this time." Stefanovich "The conservatives are making it seem like you don't care about forced labor in China or you believe in it. What do you think of that? Ma "Well, they like to exaggerate. Always." Stefanovich "Do you believe there is forced labor in China?" Ma "I believe there are forced laborers all over the world." Stefanovich "What about China specifically?" Ma "Well, all over the world" Stefanovich "But China specifically." Ma "I need to run" This shouldn't be the end of this! And is pushing this China apologist narrative part of the China-Canada MoU? Time to release the MoU now! @MarkJCarney

To reiterate my previous post, Carney gets asked a simple question, if it’s time for an East to West pipeline. He’s so uncomfortable with answering it he goes into things that are completely unrelated to it, then when he finally gets to the point, he doesn’t answer the question. These people don’t want pipelines, they are stalling. It’s infuriating.
