At least it's in the same state. Was shocked when I went to Des moines, Iowa, and the rental cars were a walk outside the terminal. Haven't experienced that in years.

@RonFL67 @TobyTheGrey2025 I work in the RCA building in NYC in the early 80's, during the Dinkins administration, and occasionally a few days/month g the Giuliani and Bloomberg Renaissance. The last 12+ years have been NYC's lowest.

@miles_commodore Any GM X car (Citation, Phoenix...). A monument to quality control. Two friends and I owned them. All three cars had water pumps fail between 40-45K miles. One took 2 years to get that mileage, another 5. Still failed in that mileage window.

VERTIGO [1958] Directed by Alfred Hitchcock I like this movie, however, it never clicked for me the way it seems to for many others. My last watch was probably a decade ago, so I'm about to give it another spin right now. What's your opinion of it? 🤔

@KyleLeeWriter @mikemoviez Both Scotty and Judy lose their characters to Madeleine. Scotty is obsessed with her, and Judy sublimates herself to become Madeleine in order to be loved by Scotty. It's very disquieting.

It is my all-time number 3 movie. To me it's a slowly unfolding nightmare of a movie, and I find myself getting chill bumps every time I see it. It's a beautifully dark tragedy (both the darkest and most tragic movie Hitch ever made), and I think Kim Novak and Jimmy Stewart both give all time great performances, Novak in particular. Watching her convince herself that what Scotty wants is right and good just fucking breaks my heart.

@mikemoviez Vertigo is a very haunting movie. Scotty never meets the real Madeleine. He falls in love with her doppelganger and loses her. He's then obsessed with recreating her, then loses her a second time.

The way to resolve it is to let new contributions go into 401K like accounts, and use taxes to cover the gap.

I’ve saved my money. I’m bitchin because they are using my money to fund their pet projects. It’s the worst savings plan on the planet. If I invested the money I’ve contributed to social security , I’d have 5 times as much money as I will be getting from the government when I retire

Everyone who has “paid into” Social Security has been *forcibly* conned out of money. I fully agree. But young people like me are ALSO being conned out of money by having to pay for boomers’ retirement with the FICA. The takeaway from this is that the federal government should have nothing to do with retirement savings. The feds should not be able to take your money, spend it, then give you checks using money from currently working Americans.

Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy- his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America. People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate. A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him. Enough is enough.  It is time for ABC to take a stand.  How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.
