Musings of the Day, 5/28/26: Another J. Aron flashback in two days — is the universe trying to tell me something? I was reading _Streetwise_, an autobiography of Lloyd Blankfein (ex-CEO of Goldman Sachs), and I found a picture of myself circa 1993-1994 on the trading desk. Richard Witten (1) was the partner in FX that hired me. Lloyd Blankfein (2) ran J. Aron during that time and frequently roamed the various trading desks. The tall guy standing next to Yours Truly (3) was John Helmers, who was the head trader of GSCI; I was the junior trader and sat to his right. The funny thing is that you see me here with a full head of hair — probably just months before we all decided to shave our heads one weekend to match the crew cut of Jimmy Riley, the partner who ran Metals/GSCI. As you can see, that crew cut stuck for me ever since! 😂

$ASTS: I mean, the bears have a lot of valid points. I’ve probably never seen a management team miss its own guidance this consistently and by such a wide margin. I really wonder why they don’t sandbag like other companies, such as $ONDS or $NBIS. The current pullback seems deserved.

$MRLN: Merlin short interest continues to creep higher. Now at 3.26M shares representing 66.6% of the 4.9M share float. Indicative borrow fee now at 26.3% up from 15.3% at the end of March. I'm seeing 33% now at Morgan Stanley.
