@TexBlonde05 @LonghornSloth And yet they couldn’t be bothered to say a single fucking word to how uniformed enlisted personnel are treated on campus. And neither could you Fuck you.

You do realize about 90% of our boosters are registered Republicans. Including Michael Dell whose a Trump supporter. Most universities in this country have a very liberal student body. Ours is more so than others in the SEC but these students tend to attend and move on with their lives. They are not reflective of our boosters and the people that keep the University of Texas afloat.

@TexBlonde05 @LonghornSloth Indeed. I saw undergrads rent out a space next to the army, enlisted, in uniform recruiters and scream them down so they couldn’t do their job While shithead libs are on every campus It was didn’t happen next that made me realize what the University of Texas really stands for

@TexBlonde05 @LonghornSloth Which branch of uniformed recruiters did you enjoy screaming down the most, while you were on the 40 Acres? Eat shit. You’re either a True Longhorn or you gaslight good Americans about what life was like for them at UT. Seriously. Fuck you

In Austin, you can walk your dogs on a quiet Sunday morning and get randomly shot. "I don't know why they would shoot me." Sean Fuentes keeps repeating it from his hospital bed. A car ran a stop sign in southeast Austin and three men opened fire. The first shot dropped him, and he felt the rest hitting the dirt next to his face as the shooters stayed and emptied the clip trying to execute him. Bear crawling home, he heard his late father's voice -- a Marine who served two tours in Vietnam: "It's go time." He crawled and walked a block and a half home bleeding. His wife saw the dogs running back alone, leashes dragging. Three teenagers stole a 9mm Glock from a shop on Ben White, took a stolen car, and spent the weekend firing into homes, vehicles, and strangers across Austin. 105 rounds across 21 incidents with four people shot. Sean’s twin sister is in the ICU waiting room with him, and wants justice: "They stayed there and shot him multiple times and then watched him. Like, you're watching somebody die.... I want to see them prosecuted to the full extent. They should be tried as adults."

A tale of two Garzas. José Garza is Austin's DA. Under him, the homicide rate has doubled vs pre-pandemic, felony cases are dropped, and many crimes have been effectively decriminalized. He is the primary reason Austin's criminals act without fear of consequences. Then there's Jonathan De La Garza Jr. He was shot in the stomach in front of his younger sisters on Saturday. His family says he can barely speak. When he does, he tells his grandmother he's in pain.

Last year, Austin made the decision to turn off its Flock camera network following a public pressure campaign built on misinformation about how the technology works. This weekend showed what that tradeoff can look like. For nearly 24 hours, three suspects moved through Austin in stolen vehicles, carrying out a shooting spree across 12 separate locations. People were shot. Homes, apartment buildings, businesses, and fire stations were hit. Robberies and additional car thefts piled up as the suspects kept moving. The response was massive. 200 officers, helicopter support, K9 units, a full manhunt. Even with all of that, the suspects stayed ahead of law enforcement. Then they crossed into Manor, Texas. Manor is a city of roughly 20,000 residents with a fraction of Austin's resources. What Manor has is an active license plate recognition network and the community support to keep it running. Manor PD located the suspects almost immediately. The spree ended. Residents stayed safe. We're grateful for the officers in both cities who worked to bring this to a close, and we're glad it's over. Austin is a great city full of people who deserve to feel safe in their neighborhoods. Our hope is that stories like Manor's can help inform the conversation about what these tools actually do, and what communities lose when they're taken away.

This story keeps getting more wild. 1 suspect steals a gun from the store in January get caught and arrested and is back on the streets in May to commit the shooting spree. This is a direct result of DA Garza failure in Austin. @GregAbbott_TX @KenPaxtonTX
Vinny Martorano@VinnyMartorano

In regard to the last part of the clip, Cargill says these suspects attempted to steal a gun from his shop 4 times before. Back in January, he says they were able to get ahold of a gun, and made it onto a CityBus before Cargill chased them down. APD confirmed they retrieved the gun and arrested the suspects on the bus. @cbsaustin

Our investigators lost critical hours tracking down today’s shooting suspects because Austin’s City Council chose politics over public safety and prevented APD from using license plate readers and other crime-fighting technology. Those cameras could have helped identify suspect vehicles faster, track movements across the city, and potentially stop additional shootings before more innocent Austinites became victims. Instead, our officers were handcuffed by their own city leaders. While violent criminals exploit every advantage they can get, Austin police are being denied tools that departments across the country use every day to solve violent crimes and protect their communities. How many more victims will it take before this council starts prioritizing public safety over political activism?
World News Tonight@ABCWorldNews

Arrests have been made in Austin after at least 10 shootings in the last 24 hours. four victims have been shot, police believe the shootings have been at random. Alex Stone reports. abcnews.link/Rb7av6X

Austin has a failing scorecard in the criminal justice department. Mr. Yeet-Bricks-from-the-overpass into oncoming traffic? Huge rap sheet. Only misdemeanors for this offense. Aka, he’ll be back at it again, soon.
cost_of_bummership@cost_of_bums

@Ezinger44 For reference, the Ben White bricklayer was only charged with misdemeanors for this incident. x.com/AustinJustice/…

License plate readers could've prevented at least some of the shootings today. The city council effectively banned them last year and just passed an act that makes them virtually useless.

Austin's police chief and mayor say that if Austin had license plate readers it could have helped with today's manhunt and shootings This incident is going to re-open that debate , recently some city council members have been fighting hard against this type of surveillance tech

While some idiots are currently riding around shooting random people and switching vehicles, would now be a bad time to mention that Austin City Council wants to get rid of license plate readers?
Mose Buchele@MoseBuchele

Austin police are still using license plate reader technology months after the Austin City Council ended the city's program over privacy concerns. from @England_Weber kut.org/crime-justice/…
