'At early morn the daylight springeth, The angels in heaven merry singeth, The world is blithe and glad. The fiends of hell are sorrowful and mad, Now the king, God's son, The strength of death hath overcome.' A 14th-century poem for Easter dawn: aclerkofoxford.blogspot.com/2013/04/at-ear…

Easter Eve is traditionally the time of the Harrowing of Hell, when Christ descended into the underworld and set its captives free. This story inspired many powerful retellings in medieval literature and art, including this majestic Anglo-Saxon poem: aclerkofoxford.blogspot.com/2015/04/open-w…

A Maundy scene in an Anglo-Saxon manuscript: monks washing feet and a king giving to the poor. Maundy Thursday takes its medieval name from these acts of charity, following Christ's commandment at the Last Supper. His 'mandatum' became 'mandé' in French, 'maundy' in English.

@ruby_dunn01 Ha! For the first 4 years of my teaching career, each school I worked at successively went through its re-accreditation process! Trying times indeed…

Every organization I've ever worked for has been going through a major website migration when I began working for them. Why? Do website platforms really make that much difference? Do companies just do this as a way to stress test their employees ? Does my presence inspire this?

“Public schools are no longer close to their founding principles, as medieval houses of piety and learning, or as Tudor monastery replacements, or as Victorian factories for the values that made Britain. Instead, they resemble physical embodiments of LinkedIn…” Ouch…

In a search for the least fashionable subject and cause possible, I wrote about public school chapels. They are, I think, one of the things which make the places even faintly justifiable: and so obviously they’re under threat. More here: spectator.com/article/you-ca…

If you’re feeling frustrated about the state of your communion, ask yourself: when was the last time I fasted and prayed for my leaders? Served in my parish? Invited someone to church? Celebrated the glories of my tradition as much as I bemoaned it? Get in the game, friends!

I just want everyone to know that a friend gave me the instructions to shut of AI results on Google searches and it is as if I have returned to a lost, golden world, a world filled with information that I can sift for myself, a world where looking for things reaps useful results.

I've lived in New York for going on 30 years, without being able to root for a New York team. But now that my homeboy John Harbaugh is coming to the Giants ... (Except when they're playing the Lions. #DetroitProud)

For those who enjoy my grandmother’s knitwear and wish to purchase some, she has some more pieces available on the website I made. She’s not interested in making a profit, so you can’t really find beautiful handmade clothes for this price. Take a look: doris-knitwear.myshopify.com

My grandmother knitted me a beautiful jumper! She used to work for Irish fashion designer Paul Costelloe many years ago, and now knits all kind of things for fun. So talented!
