Mathys Tel was easily one of the brightest sparks on the pitch yesterday. The way he attacked his 1v1s was unreal. Just look at 0:31 He squares up the fullback, drives straight at his hips, forces him backwards, then cuts inside with zero hesitation. Then he does it again, drives at the hips, shifts the defender’s momentum, makes him plant his feet, and that little cut back in, that’s elite wing play. He just plays with this freedom and sharpness that changes the whole tempo. Confident taking his man on, confident shooting, and still sprints back every time to help defensively. For someone getting limited minutes at 20, his mentality is fantastic.
