if you really want an app for some reason, download a new/separate browser on your phone that you use exclusively for ao3, change the icon and pretend it’s an ao3 app.

ao3 also keeps track of your click history for you already, so you can search through if you accidentally close a tab. they even have a “mark for later” button if you don’t want to read a fic right now. they’ve put a lot of work into the website.

same! ao3 already lets you download fics as .epub or .pdf files to read in any eReader app too. if you’re worried about having too many fics/tabs open, download them as eBooks and open them in your phone/tablet’s eReader app so you don’t lose them.

maybe this is a hot take but i genuinely don’t understand why so many people want an AO3 app? the site already has dark mode, there’s browser options for organizing fics you’re reading, and having an app would mean restricting a LOT of the content to comply with app store policy

i have no idea how they think it's ok for them to add a monthly subscription just for access to ao3...they do not own any of the fics on the site and ao3 itself is a nonprofit so? i hope they get slapped with another DMCA notice when writers see this is happening. they deserve it

if you have published on ao3 i hope you know this is blowing up these last few days because the dev of the unofficial ao3 reader app just decided to introduce a monthly fee just for viewing, so now all of those fics you write for free are being used by someone else to make money
