Honestly, reverse retirement makes more sense to me every day. Why am I supposed to spend my 20s, 30s, and 40s stressed, exhausted, and chained to work just so I can finally “live” when my body is falling apart? I’d rather enjoy life while I still have energy. Give me the freedom now. I’ll do the boring office job later when there’s nothing left to miss anyway.

@NewProgressUSA There is a fundamental difference between taxing the productivity of robots that have zero incentives to slack off and humans who have no incentive to step up.

We could’ve done all this decades before artificial intelligence, though. We could’ve done it with universal basic income and eliminate objective levels of material poverty before the 21st century ever began.

@PhilosophyBeard @McClureShawn I don't care what you call it, a place, an alternate plane of existence.. reality for that being exists or does not exist. If it does not exist, that being cannot exist. You don't get to hand wave away reality to insist that an imaginary god is necessary.

I want to get better. Getting better means running multiple agents. AI cost is going up. When the cost of my multiple agents exceeds the cost of a developer, the powers that be are going to say we need to lose a developer. Because my 5 agents are doing 5 developers work for one developer's salary. Because my IT shop is still a cost center and it is not apparent that my acceleration is increasing revenue. That's the real discriminator.

We will continue to see layoffs from companies with large eng teams Engineers are producing 10-100x the code they used to.... This is causing a lot of instability in companies with large code bases and teams The status-quo is simply not sustainable

Here is the real dichotomy. Where does the god exist? Somewhere, or Nowhere? Outside is not an answer. If you say somewhere, you are saying reality just exists.. something you are not granting the atheist. If you say nowhere, the atheist is going to agree with you, because nothing can exist nowhere.

@TheAliceSmith I will start with the ten commandments that include no god before my god. That is fundamentally disrespectful to every student of an alternate faith and no faith, and adds nothing to the education of common citizens needing to respect one another in the modern world.

When I grew up, minimum wage was not "healthcare/house/car/401k". It was "don't exploit someone" and allowed for people that had no job skills to start out and eventually move up. That expectation is changing in terms of how people think about it today, but not in a way that redefines it for people who grew up in my generation. You are in the act of redefining minimum wage in a manner we did not grow up seeing it. That does not mean you are wrong, but the conversation needs to be better than demonizing each other and encouraging people from my generation to see the numbers are fundamentally different than when we grew up.

minimum wage discourse is something else. Conservatives will really say things like, “Learn economics. Capitalism requires a massive supply of desperate, exploitable workers drowning in poverty to keep commodity prices low for the wealthy, and that’s a good thing.”

@omgsidewalks I have friends and family that made bad choices. And got bad results. I am "smarter" than most of them, and encouraged them to make the same choices I do. Is this a failure of capitalism, or people to eager to make and accept excuses?

Ngl capitalism has ruined so many people's perception of the world and made them think it's normal to be extremely selfish and greedy when it isn't. It's not natural to think human beings should go without shelter, food, and healthcare simply because they have no money. It's disturbing.

@james_xond 28, lost that home when I lost my job. Had to replace the roof to sell it. That roof went onto my credit card. Had to cash in 401k to pay off the credit card and one of my cars as I took a 33% cut in pay moving to another state.

@infoinvt Normalize taxing every citizen at the same consistent rate as a part of being a voter. Stop carving out special interests that can band against the most successful to take even more while contributing even less.

I make a burger, and I get a dime per burger. The owner gets a dime per burger. The franchise gets a dime per burger. The investor gets a dime per burger. The billionaire gets a dime per burger. The difference is scale, not effort. Nobody is stealing from the guy making the burger. He is not capable of adding scale to his effort.

It’s really something how billionaires have rigged the rules to let them vacuum up all of society’s wealth & then fund think tanks and buy media properties that blame poverty and homelessness and despair on literally everything other than billionaires vacuuming up all the wealth

I was on track to pay off my home before 60. One divorce later, refinance my house, buy it for 10k more than the original price. I am now on track to pay it off by 65. But AI is going to replace my job.. maybe before 65. So I am investing and saving with the goal of paying off my home so that I HOPE I can make ends meet through the transition.

I don't get why people don't understand the idea of early retirement. Like, even if you DO keep working. Why wouldn't you want the option to NOT work as early as possible? Having retirement money before age 65 gives you options.

This statement is a level of dishonesty that needs to be challenged. I love fiction. I love fantasy fiction. If someone could do half the things claimed in the old Testament, I would be in seminary trying to do it too. But no staves into serpents. These things only happen off camera.
