@ipla03 Although reanimated has more features and users etc this shows something is off. I think it is time for them to discontinue v3 in order to focus on improving v4 perf. I read that they are currently writing a animation backend integration which might already help alot.

@dangiscoding Naturally, dev-client works like a charm. In regard to the performance issues you'd probably have to be more specific, I'm not an expo developer 😿

We just released Reanimated 4.3.0-rc.0 and Worklets 0.8.0-rc.0. They come with a lot of features and optimizations but we want to make sure we didn't ship any breaking changes. Please let us know if upgrading to these RC versions causes any issues. List of what to watch for 👇🧵

@ipla03 We switched to native stack to fix flickering issues on fabric and are using default anims. JS stacks are unacceptable for us currently sadly.

Is the JS stack navigator still the best solution for navigation with custom animations? Or am I missing some way to do that with the native stack?

@mrousavy Well deserved recognition! Probably also old arch being called dead by the RN team is helping here, as most alternatives to old arch libraries have new arch nitro backed competitors so teams use them while adopting. Nitro is definitely helping adopting the new architecture. 🚀

Nitro downloads exploded exponentially (mmkv for comparison). While Nitro has been out for a little over a year, it almost caught up with the total weekly downloads of mmkv 👀

@rolandobarbella @SumitM_X You are asuming it never rerenders but i would definetly point that out in an interview. Knowing this is „unstable“ code reflects knowledge. Either tell it will be fine with react compiler or say move the array out of the component to stabalize the reference as it is not dynamic

@mrousavy Thankfully we have react-compiler now. So just using the eslint react rules plugin + react-compiler should be fine to eliminate those things.

I've seen code like this in a couple of projects already. 🤦‍♂️ This is probably 50x-300x as many CPU cycles as the version without useMemo because of the function creation, array creation, function call, dependency traversing, comparisons, etc. - stop overusing 𝚞𝚜𝚎𝙼𝚎𝚖𝚘!
