This collection FaceOfUniverse by Tatsuru Arai reflects on the origins of our ecosystem — shaped by the Sun’s energy and the long evolution of life on Earth. Millions of years ago, the planet was hot and filled with carbon dioxide and nitrogen. As the Earth cooled, rain formed the oceans. In these waters, the first plants appeared. Much later, human civilisation built cities. Today, studies — including research by NASA — show that plants continue to play a crucial role by absorbing carbon dioxide produced by humans. This reminds us that nature and urban life are deeply connected. Wildflowers growing in cities become small but powerful symbols of this coexistence — traces of the same solar energy that once made life on Earth possible. At its center are the artist’s own hands, serving as a structural “scaffold” for AI-generated images and video sequences.
