“CSS-only Widgets Are Inaccessible”
adrianroselli.com/2023/03/css-on…
Loosely, those CSS-only controls (such as a hamburger trigger that uses the checkbox hack) you see (from every Dribble build or Codepen contest) are generally a problem for many (1/2)

@twynn92 @BlindHerald Would be curious as well, I also know a lot of folks who run a business or just do consulting privately / as non-W2, and for those situations it can be simpler to hire someone. I don't think Turbotax would pass a WCAG evaluation and I'm surprised less has gotten spoken around it.
English

@tamaccess So for filing taxes, blind folks just hire accountants? You would think ACB or NFB would have made this a priority... @BlindHerald, any recommendations?
English

@twynn92 Since retirement / investment stuff is simple to report through them I said screw it. But the amount of upgrade nag screens, and inconsistent radio button selectors that sometimes don't highlight with arrows alone, and a bunch of other stuff still surprised me. They've had time.
English

@tamaccess FreeTaxUSA has its own pretty egregious accessibility issues. Is there any decent one out there?
English

@twynn92 I haven't heard of one, which is why a lot of people I know hire accountants, but my tax situation was simple this year with a single W-2, and Turbo had my past years of data so they sucked me in.

@dlee_code @tspivey Guess the site hasn't been updated, but the release is downloadable from:

Tried updating the manifest.ini for NVDA remote addon as I did with IBMTTS but it seemed to have a bug where I would get stuck controling remote machine, so it may need more updates to work correctly.

@FreakyFwoof I think if you expand it with alt+ down arrow it should, but sometimes with just down arrow it doesn't? Not entirely sure though

I re-tested auto-translation of `aria-label`.
Chrome & Edge offer auto-translation. Firefox, Safari, et al, do not (I recall Safari 14 / iOS 11 had it, but I cannot find it now?).
Still little or no support.

Do not rely on it. #accessibility #a11y

The GitHub contributions chart is now far more accessible than it was (for logged in users only):
github.com/orgs/community…
Follows up from my earlier ask:
github.com/orgs/community…
Still has issues:
#Update05" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">adrianroselli.com/2018/02/github…
Seems a bit verbose in SRs.
