Not Rashbehari Bose. Not Bagha Jatin. Not Surya Sen. Kolkata will have 125 feet eyesore of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. Why not? He extended his support to the British empire to crush the 1942 Quit India Movement. Here is the excerpt from the letter of this "great man". "Anybody who, during the war, plans to stir up mass feelings, resulting in internal disturbances or insecurity, must be resisted...The administration of the province should be carried out in such a manner that, despite the Congress's best efforts, this movement will fail to take root...As one of your ministers, I am willing to offer you my wholehearted cooperation." m.economictimes.com/news/politics-…

It is time India starts selling US treasuries, deploy the weapon the American side only understands this language. Diplomatic niceties are taken as weakness in trade negotiations and energy supply lines from Russia. Enough of colonial diktats from US. Put your card on table. Who the hell are Americans to talk about granting license to us on Russian crude, damage our economy by a senseless war in Iran and creating an energy crisis. Why cant we take an open stand against USA. Why should India pay the cost for a disastrous war launched by Israel & America alias Bibi Netanyahu & Trump. Our economic growth is being ruined by so called strategic partners in USA & Israel. That is the truth being told so bluntly. Whatever Israel gave you in defence it was paid for nothing came free as an act of charity. And less said the better about US which is aiding Pakistan & damaging India in every manner.

Marco Rubio is proceeding to Delhi from Jaipur to attend QUAD proceedings. He is the foreign minister of the US. The casual approach of personnel in uniform deputed to see him off reflects poorly on Indian forces. You may not be happy with America, but please don't display such poor drills to the world. You are not only representing your force but also your country.

A rather annoying cartoon from a self- satisfied country of 5.6 million people with no historical or civilisational depth, or experience of handling complex and diverse societies or the depth of challenges that a country of 1.4 billion people faces. Resorting to an offensive snake charmer stereotype of India, that has a racist overtone. India does not need Norwegian oil. It has huge oil rich countries in its neighbourhood. Doesn’t need to charm them as India is a huge market, being the second largest importer of oil. The cartoon reflects the shallowness of Norway’s journalism as this is the country’s largest newspaper.

THE MEA TOOK THE BAIT. IT SHOULDN'T HAVE. The question was never India’s to answer. If a Norwegian journalist asks, “Why should we trust India?”, that is fundamentally a question for Norway’s leadership. There's no need for India to seek validation from anyone on this account. Too often, the Indian establishment still craves affirmation from legacy Western institutions. That colonial reflex needs to end. India has nothing to prove.

Dear Prof @kaushikcbasu, hope you are taking your morning/evening walks in Central Park, NY! For us & crores like us, in #WestBengal, 4th & 9th May 2026, in Kolkata, felt like 15 August, 1947 - Independence Day! Remember when over 200 BJP workers were killed in May 2021, after the elections, you had referred to the period as akin to “Aug 15, 1947” & had kept mum on the death orgy engineered by the TMC! Wish you had spent your time articulating an economic and industrial roadmap for the state’s revival and not wiled away your energies in justifying the anti democratic antics of an evil regime. Anyway, continue with your walks and inane perorations, Bengal has by-passed you! It doesn’t need the likes of you /anymore! Despite your depression, hope you have the courtesy to congratulate the new WB CM @SuvenduWB and the new VC of the NITI Aayog @ashoklahiribjp - they too have Bengal’s interest at heart!

So many on social media regularly abused Bengalis, without understanding what Bengalis have been up against. They typecast Bengali women and men because of a handful of woke, deracinated but vocal idiots, without realising why the majority was silent. They nearly wanted to cut off the state from India. But without West Bengal, its people, its fierce fighters, Bharat will not be Bharat.

𝗨𝗻𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗵-𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗺𝘆, 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. There is an abundance of evidence to prove that the major reason why British could no longer maintain their control on India, was the surge of nationalistic feelings, culminating in the anti-British attitude of the Indian soldiers, thus making the primary instrument of British control unreliable. The INA trials was the major event that caused this phenomenon. However, it is shameful that some Indians are hell-bent in downplaying this factor. Let me quote one crucial evidence out of the mountain of evidences, to reinforce the historical fact. During a debate in the House Of The Commans, on 5th March 1947, on the British policy towards India, Sir Stafford Cripps(who headed the Cripps Mission in 1942 and was a one of three members of the Cabinet Mission) said the following : "The exigencies of the war situation were such that it was not possible for the British Government to continue with the recruitment of Europeans for the Secretary of State's Services, while, at the same time, there was, of course, a great increase in the Indian Forces, accompanied by a rapid Indianisation of their officer cadre. This meant that, side by side with the growing demand for an acceleration of the transfer of power on the part of all parties in India, there was an obvious and inevitable weakening of the machinery of British control through the Secretary of State's Services. It was, of course, through these Services that British control had been exercised in the administration of Indian affairs. They had been supported in extreme cases by the Indian Army under British command and with a large percentage of British officers, and by British troops stationed in India...So for as the Indian officers were concerned, who, presumably, looked forward to a continuing career in the administration, despite any transfer of power, they, naturally, began to look more and more to those Indian parties which would, in the future, hold power, rather than to the British, who had announced their willingness to hand over power. Here Stafford Cripps, in a very veiled language, avoiding embarrassment, clearly conveys that the primary instrument of British Control- the British Indian army, can no longer be relied upon. In the same debate, Mr. Reginald Sorensen (Labour MP for Leyton West), later paraphrased what Cripps had said earlier, and made it as blunt as it can be: "𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒐𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒄𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒚, 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒏𝒐 𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓 𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒅𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑨𝒓𝒎𝒆𝒅 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒄𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒂 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒔... 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒔𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒊𝒅𝒍𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒌 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒇𝒊𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑨𝒓𝒎𝒚; 𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒆𝒅, 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑨𝒓𝒎𝒚, 𝒊𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒐𝒃𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔, 𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒐𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅, 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒔 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒄𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑮𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕. 𝑰𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒖𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒆𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒐𝒚 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒑𝒔 𝒐𝒏 𝒂 𝒍𝒂𝒓𝒈𝒆 𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆." Such a statement from Cripps assumes high importance, as he was someone who was majorly involved in the finality of the Transfer of Power i.e. Cabinet Mission. Similar evidences come from all the quarters : Top British government officials, Indian politicians and leaders, the army, intelligence etc.

By the end of the world war 2 Indian independence was given. Even smaller island colonies of Britain gained freedom in same decade. Indian nationalist movement was gaining momentum in masses for sometime. Indian army was infact last to abandon British cause and it was infact the factor that delayed Indian independence. Attributing Indian independence solely to the action of Indian army while ignoring whole history of Indian freedom movement is injustice to contribution of Indian Freedom fighters.
