@taylor_stevan @soil_owner @Rich_Pluta @BicameralMoid Sm is a light-rare-earth and abundantly available outside of china. There is a significant difference between light-rare-earth and heavy-rare-earth, like neodymium and dysprosium. Full non-rare-earth is with Niron Magnetics.

Just ran into Modal Motors. Non-rare earth electric motors for drones and robotics. Similar costs to Chinese motors, all U.S.-sourced. Incredible.

@JuanIsidro if you look close enough you can see the mounted clamp haha this is Dell S3225QS, a 4K 32 inch monitor I got it since my previous monitor’s screen cracked a little and I couldn’t focus properly. I’d been planning on getting a bigger screen for a while, so thought it was time

@IterIntellectus Considering the existing superconductors working principle, by analysing all the known elements, describe the exact method how a room temperature superconductor material can be created. Also consider the ISS microgravity as a possible environment to create it.

@mazeincoding Rename it to openwound with some salt and it will be fine. Joke aside, I'm excited about your project, now I heard about it for the first time

So I finally discovered how to make perfect boiled eggs easily peelable You put them in WHEN the water boils NOT from the start with cold water, cause then they will cling to the shell immediately 🙏 🥚

@xlrndo @boxcardavid @BenderDrummer I was thinking the same before opening your answer. 💯 agree. 10+ years ago I saw a robot where they used two computer mice dragged on the ground to track the robot position precisely

@boxcardavid @BenderDrummer This sounds like the sensor for an optical mouse (i.e., all of them these days). Not too many pixels, but runs at thousands of Hz and can track just about any surface a few millimeters away.

Measuring the position of a spinning thing with a big hole in the middle is a persistent and annoying problem. I think a lot about this motor where they just made the magnets too long and put an analog Hall sensor on the side. It’s so inelegant and simple and stupid, I love it.

Timmay!@Dr_Timmay

So, uh... now the question is how do I get the absolute rotor position with a hollow shaft? Plot twist: without breaking the bank and getting an AksIM-2-price-point encoder. Reminder: I need 12x of these 😭💸

It's finally here: Brampton Brampton is the world's most intelligent, creative, and fastest model. Brampton dramatically outperforms Grok 3, Claude 3.7 Sonnet, and GPT 4.5. Reply with "brampton" for early access.
