My father, who passed away in February, served in the Air Force just after graduating from medical school. They made him a Captain right off the bat, I assume so he could boss around enlisted men. We lived on Scott Air Force Base in Illinois for 2 years. Mostly the planes we saw were C-119 Flying Boxcars, and I thought they were super-cool. I've seen images of silver-painted ones, but ours were painted green. This changed during the Cuban Missile Crisis. They flew in B-52s and (I think) B-47s to station them at Scott I assume because it was closer to Cuba than wherever they came from. My dad told me that there was a crew aboard each B-52 bomber 24/7. They lived, slept, and ate on the plane for hours at a time, then got relieved by another crew. The idea I guess was that they could take off immediately if the word came down. There was apparently not a crew aboard the B-47s if I remember correctly. I've read that the B-47s were dispersed mostly to keep them from being KOed in a Russian attack, as a reserve force. I don't know where the B-58s were stationed. My dad's role was just to ensure that the ears, and upper respiratory tracts of the aircrew were working but I guess they also serve who only stand and peer up noses. #MemorialDay

@miles_commodore Can’t watch. Or listen. I’ve been a Hannity fan since he started on WSB Radio. But he’s just too much.

I'm done with Hannity interviews. He gets really good guests, but I'm always yelling at the TV, would you please let the man or woman answer the freaking question. Do you still enjoy his show?

Mortgage demand is now WORSE than the Great Financial Crisis. Read that again. Worse than 2008. Yet sellers are still pricing homes like it’s 2021 with 3% rates. The math stopped mathing.

Always remember that you are someone’s torment. Lean into it and act accordingly. For if the truth you utter shall kill them, then you are obligated to let them die. The truth requires no quarter, and it gives none in return. Because reality does not negotiate with delusion.

Today is Memorial Day. Today is also the anniversary of the death of Saint George Floyd, patron saint of criminals, drug addicts and wifebeaters everywhere. Democrats had a choice. They could commemorate one or the other. Remember that ancient Crusader's line in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade"?

If you want to improve reading scores, you have to get students to read. It is that simple. All the other systems, methods, and protocols are fluff. Gotta get students to put down their phones, and pick up books.

@jenteach13 There has to be accountability. Admin types turned it into a works program to break the system. I know this b/c we had valid, useful standardized testing in the 70s and 80s and it didn’t break the system. You can’t have a curriculum w/o testing.

My husband @flowidealism went to the University of Chicago to do his PhD specifically to prove the free market economists wrong. He was that committed. He became depressed for two years... Because he learned he'd been lied to his entire life. He went looking for ammunition and came back converted.  Most people avoid that risk. They'd rather keep believing something comfortable than find out it's wrong, because once you see it, you can't go back to not seeing it.

@revenant_MMXX People keep saying, “The landlord raises your rent to cover that” No, they do not. They can only charge market rate, whether they replaced an AC unit last year or not Market rate.

Kevin O'Leary aka Mr. Wonderful
We uncovered something far bigger than I ever expected. After seeing coordinated false attacks against the Utah data center project, we brought in an advanced data science team to trace where the content was coming from and the results were shocking. What we found led back to organized networks, political activist groups, and funding trails tied to massive international entities. We dug through IRS 990 filings, tracked IP data from around the world, and uncovered what appears to be a coordinated campaign targeting energy and data center projects across multiple regions. I shared 90 pages of evidence with federal law enforcement and raised concerns directly with contacts at the White House. This isn’t speculation. The filings, funding records, dates, and connections are documented. There’s a coordinated PR war happening around energy infrastructure and data centers, and we’re not going to ignore it.

Judging by the comments, Uber & Lyft are effectively high yield payday loan companies as drivers are aware of the high depreciation rates of their driving but still drive because they need cash today
Alex Feinberg@Alexfeinberg

I thought the same about Uber & Lyft but as it turns out there’s a near infinite supply of questionable drivers who aren’t aware that most of every dollar they earn in fares is lost in vehicular depreciation

Kids should be unwilling participants in much of their upbringing. I mean they aren’t going to elect into chores, vegetables, bedtimes, and hard work in school if given the choice. That’s why they are kids and that’s why parents need not worry about willing or unwilling participation and instead make their child do what’s best for them.

@jenteach13 Kids are pretty much unwilling participants in their own education.
