Jon, Chamath often argues in bad faith, but thats no excuse for you to. Property tax in Seattle is effectively a 9.6% income tax (taking avg house price of 800K from Zillow and avg salary of 79K from Zip Recruiter). Then there is the 10.25% state sales tax. WA folks are paying plenty of state tax. If the state wants to shift from a regressive sales and (less but still somewhat) regressive property tax to progressive income taxes thats a reasonable position they should take to the electorate. In this case Dems from both houses and the Gov Fergusson went to the last election promising not to support an income tax (probably because WA voters have voted it down all 11 times it was on the ballot). Its Dems own messaging and actions that make it easy to characterize it as envious and divisive.

@blakeir If your two options are a meeting or reading a Twitter essay you’ve got bigger opportunities. The best operators are so bc they were busy building.

We’re living through a golden age of high-signal podcasts and essays. For many people, the marginal hour is better spent learning from the best operators & investors than sitting in another meeting.

I watched a woman sell thrifted clothes (Goodwill tags still on) from an AirBnb on her vacation tonight on WhatNot. $25 here, $17 there. 158 people watching. Every item selling. 125 items she literally picked up that day at Goodwill, drove to her AirBnb, threw them in a heap on the floor and hit GO LIVE. I’d bet she just paid for her vacation in one show. What a world.

@AmazonHelp @PrimeVideo The ads are HD, it’s the broadcast that isn’t. This isn’t on my side friend. Y’all are just being stingy on CDNs

It is embarrassing how bad the NBA streams on @PrimeVideo are. All the tech in the world between AWS and Twitch/IVS and the streams all but unwatchable

Who would have thought that, having been pillaged of talent to staff AI, Slack would end up being the primary corporate interface for most AI.

@Whatnot [Conclusion] @Whatnot without a doubt have someone working inside the business that has access to customers data and is using/passing these to criminals. Most likely only to new users which this account is. My device isn't compromised. This needs urgent attention by @Whatnot.

[Thread] It appears that @Whatnot has a mole inside their business with access to new customers data and is passing this data to criminals to attempt to steal banking information. There is absolutely no way I am keeping this private as they would not act on it.

Tech Twitter: with AI and the modern SaaS stack we’ll have 10B companies built by <10 employees! Tech Reality: every promising vendor you rely on gets bought by AI and scrapped for talent.

As an aside if you think you're an exceptional builder of AI tools, DM me the best thing you've built. A bespoke internal tooling builder would be a huge unlock.

The @Whatnot PM team does about 25-50 user interviews a week. I want to collect the audio/transcripts and make them queryable ("what do Fashion buyers think of search usability"). Anyone already built this? If not, best set of AI tools to build it myself?

@dennishegstad @khency6 @pauljauregui Live is hyper efficient. I spoke to a seller yesterday who took 10 years to sell 100,000 items on ebay - he's sold more than that this year on Whatnot already. 3 second sudden death auctions :) Live is 1 to many, not 1 to 1

Yeah which is the inefficiency of a store vs being digital, no? Live sellers are 1 person with many relationships with brands If a brand hosts the live there is 1 person with a relationship to 1 brand, limited. Live video is fun the first time then becomes unnecessarily boring once you realize you can’t talk about your same product for 3 hours a day, every day.
