Grade 2s explored African Heritage. We looked at symbols in the 2024 ETFO Black History Poster, connected to a story which taught us about Adinkra symbols from Ghana and discussed the big idea of how differences are AWESOME. @gen_brock_tdsb

Grade 2s explored truth and reconciliation by unpacking the land acknowledgment they say each day, learning about whose traditional/stolen lands we are on and writing their own land acknowledgment based on what they know and appreciate about the land. @gen_brock_tdsb @UIEC_Tdsb

Name inquiry based on “Alma and How She Got Her Name”. Students read many books and had rich discussions about names and where they come from. Then they researched and told the story of each part of their own names. Such beautiful name stories were shared. Proud teacher. 👏👏👏❤️

CANADIAN TEACHERS/LIBRARIANS. I love & respect the work you do. I have 20 copies of The Great Bear & I'm giving them away to YOUR CLASS/LIBRARY. Follow me, like this post, and reply with a book by a marginalized writer (not me) you use in your class or stock on your shelves.

Setting up for an epic book tasting on Monday. Students will get their first “taste” of the latest books from @IndigoLOR, and will highlight some favourite “bites” by sharing their reviews with the class.
