@StevenGlinert Singapore has the luxury of taking that stand, they aren't affected much, most of their electricity comes from LNG, which is piped into their country lol,.

@mr_james_c It's an offence here if you have still water that breeds mosquito for households. Been taught that since young, it's a relentless prevention campaign by the NEA. Recent years the govt have expanded the wolbanchia operation and number of harmful female mosquito has decreased alot

I always come back to the fact that Singapore is a tropical city sitting on the equator yet has barely any mosquitoes. Just contemplate the level of civic capability required to achieve this outcome.
Collingwood 🇬🇧@admcollingwood

I always weep reading the Wikipedia pages of senior Singaporean politicians. The general career path seems to be: Excel at school and secure a scholarship to study some super difficult subject, like maths or physics, at Cambridge University. Excel at university and get a scholarship to do a post-grad degree in governance or an MBA at Harvard. Join the Singaporean military and excel. Reach at least the rank of Brigadier or General. Enter politics. Excel even compared with others who have similar CVs, rise to become a senior position. Compare that with the career path of the average senior British politican. Get the same results as every other middle class child at school. Do PPE or straight up politics at university. Leverage your contacts to become a SPAD for a cabinet or shadow cabinet member. Get a column writing gig at the Spectator, Economist or New Statesman Become a more senior SPAD. Run in an impossible to win seat to prove you really want to be in parliament. Get parachuted into a safe seat as a rising star. Get a junior ministerial position in the first reshuffle after the election. Get made a cabinet member after the next election. Now, why is Singapore an extremely well run country and we are not?

@RisingGemsz So what exactly Is Mainoo's role? If we need elite passing, elite ball carrying, elite this, elite that, then are we prepared to be a bench player again?

There isn't a better passer among our midfield targets than Angelo Stiller. Stiller is an elite high-volume passer—his ability to dictate the tempo and manipulate space with his passing is hard to ignore and its exactly what we've been missing since the peak Carrick/Scholes era. He can dictate the tempo of a game effortlessly (For over a decade, the club has lacked that specific profile of a "metronome" who can just sit in the center, recycle the ball, and maintain a high tempo without panicking under pressure) and while he might not be the most physical player, he more than makes up for it with his technical ability and high football IQ. That’s not to say he’s a slouch in defense, either—his positioning is top-tier (his positioning + IQ allow him to intercept and disrupt play without needing to be a physical monster). If you bring in Stiller as an 8, the number 6 has to be an engine who can win physical duels, and there isn’t a better fit for that than Baleba. This would be a perfectly balanced midfield—they complement each other so well, and financially, it just makes too much sense to ignore. I can honestly see this happening.
Rising Gems tweet media
Rising Gems@RisingGemsz

Stiller playing under Carrick would be absolutely insane—it’s a match made in heaven. Him and Baleba as our primary duo just feels right. It’s the perfect balance of brains and physical power. You get Stiller’s elite technical control and Carrick-esque passing, combined with Baleba’s raw power and ball-winning. Getting both of them for the price of one Elliot Anderson is exactly the kind of logical business we should be doing to actually transform the squad.

Here we have George Yeo, the former foreign minister of Singapore. He demonstrates a far deeper grasp of European history and its conflicts than most Western politicians will ever have. It's rare to find a current high-ranking official who can speak with such depth, clarity and insight in an interview.

@Real1_balogun That's why it's harder and harder for English clubs to do well in Europe. All mid table clubs are very competitive, they have to go 100% every week in the league. Unlike PSG where the league will postpone league matches for them.

The club currently sitting 14th in the Premier League has 15 internationals. Fifteen. You may think it’s small matter, but it’s big deal. It means they have good players. Players worthy of being invited by their countries. It means they are underperforming too. When you have that amount of senior internationals and players worthy of international consideration, you should do better. And they don’t play for small countries. They’re playing for good football countries. Japan England Colombia Senegal Spain Wales Ivory Coast Norway France Morocco Nine of these 10 countries will be at the World Cup and most of those 15 players will be there.

@moonboye347 @CorvidDevoid How do you get deported when you are a citizen? They are SG's indigenous race. Fear of punishment is a factor, but a small one. Largely due to our society being drilled from young to be tolerant, understanding, and compassionate.

I saw some of y'all are throwing shades at Muslims in SouthEast Asia especially in Singapore. So I'm going to say this: Despite Singapore having a Muslim population, one can: - Walk their dogs - Eat pork in the same multicultural coffeeshop as them while they eat halal food - Set up a non-halal eatery - Eat during Ramadan if they are not Muslim - Not worry about stabbing crimes - Be a non Muslim (Christian, Buddhist, Athiest) And the Muslims here do not care as long as you are not doing it to their faces on purposes Because our Muslims are not the same Muslims that is found in the UK and Japan. They are tolerant and civilized. They don't complain about non-halal establishments in Singapore or make a fuss. Because there are halal places for them here too and they know it. So I don't want to hear any "anti-Islam" views.
Crimson Crow | 深红乌鸦 | 真紅のカラス| 🇸🇬@CorvidDevoid

A reminder that I can walk my dog, eat pork, and go to non-halal restaurants in Singapore despite having a Malay Muslim population. I can even eat in the same coffeeshop as them while they are eating their halal food and they won't complain There's a difference between a radical Arab Muslim and a sane SEA Muslim

The Story of Mr Crude I start my journey as a fossil fuel all the way in the Middle East (probably the dinosaur was my ancestor). I get loaded onto a ship called a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) and get discharged into somewhere in Asia, with so much refining capacity but limited availability of domestic crude. Then in the refinery, I get distilled (i.e. split up) and upgraded into various fractions. The light ends: LPG, naphtha, mogas. The middle distillates: jet fuel, diesel. The bottom of the barrel: fuel oil. All these little fractions are called refined products. If you don't have little old me (i.e. Mr Crude), and if the refineries are not having enough to run, there will be no refined products. What's the big deal then? Are you on your phone or computer reading this post? In a room with air conditioning? Almost everything you see has links with me, whether the fuel to generate electricity (in some countries), or the material to make the phone and computer (plastics, from naphtha), to the delivery of goods to your home (transport fuel). So if 20% of the world's oil supply is blocked for more than 3 weeks, I think we have a problem, sir. Yours sincerely, Mr Crude #oott

@hardbank_ge @raagulanpathy So naive to say this. Batam sits on the same Phillips Channel as SG, they have the same geographical advantage as SG. We are relevant because of efficiency, capacity, network effect, and many more reasons.

🚨 Bruno Fernandes routinely watches matches on his phone while United travels to games. There was recently an instance where his United team-mates were relaxing on a journey and Bruno was studying a Portugal U-19s match. To many at United, he is a manager in waiting once his playing days are over. On the pitch, too, Bruno’s mentorship is ever-present. Whether he’s pointing out a run he wanted Amad to make, or educating Sesko of the position he needs to run into. Fernandes is two or three steps ahead all the time which is why he is as influential as he is. #MUFC [@NathSalt1]

@August72512508 @mufcMPB It is not a solution, its an accelearated path for him to get minutes and get used to the physicality. Amad, Mbuemo, Bruno, Cunha are all ahead of him in pecking order. A loan to get minutes will be good. Even Endrick is out on loan.

@tanyshanny @mufcMPB Why does everyone think a loan to the Championship is the solution for a young guy 😂 Kobbie got into the senior team at 17-18, never went out on loan. That's how the path typically is for top tier talent. (McTominay, Rashford, Greenwood etc also never went on loan)

🚨🌟 Many inside Old Trafford believe JJ Gabriel is the generational talent who could become a real Manchester United GLOBAL superstar. United are keen to give him a taste of the big time. But, as Sir Alex Ferguson did with Ryan Giggs in the early days of his career, United are being cautious with Gabriel even though the clamour for him to be unleashed is growing by the day. #MUFC [@sbates_people]
