WTF AI companies are purchasing large quantities of used and rare books. Scanning their contents to train models. Then turning the originals to pulp. The sum of human thought, digitized and shredded. Every book that gets scanned disappears from the physical world permanently. The knowledge survives only as training data inside a system no one can hold, browse, or resell. What used to sit on a shelf for centuries now exists as weights in a model that might get deprecated next quarter.

Exactly Before you needed to be technical to make something, and that + OK marketing = $$$ Now you don't need to be technical at all to make something So if you're OK at marketing you're now competing with people who are great at marketing TL;DR it's marketing week every week

Interesting trend: CTO/ Head of Eng / VPE folks at startups and mid-sized companies are... leaving / burning out. Hiring for these roles is HARD, but even after filling the role, they will often leave a few months later and take a career break And they have v good reasons

More people in SF should leave Silicon Valley and see the world. If you're a company thinking of expanding out of the valley, it's so important to not get clouded by all of the technological adoption happening here. The way you tell your company's story in SF will be very different to the way you tell the story say, in Europe or Asia. You cannot shortcut your way to understanding the local scenius of specific geographies of the world. The only way to truly understand a market is to spend time there yourself and talk to people 1:1. It's a tightrope appealing to both the SF and non-SF crowd. Two very different audiences - and this is where field storytelling comes into play.
