@JamesWard We will get to the same level of trust with agents. At that point, why have the agent write code at all? Just have it go straight to assembly and call the OS api directly.

I also think that programming languages are mostly dead too. When is the last time you inspected the output of the complier? Short of working on a complier directly (adding features or fixing bugs), you don't.

If you're a developer you should read every word of this. No one really knows what the ADE of the future will look like, but for most users it probably won't be a TUI.

Yes. AI will free us to do higher/better work, just like the Industrial Revolution freed us from extreme manual labor just to eat. Though the transition will be rough.

claude cowork is making me think maybe we’ll look back and it’ll be obvious that humans were never meant to spend their lives working behind a screen. we’ll see it as inevitable that computers do everything for us on computers and the future of work is cooler than we can imagine

In the short term, yes. 200 years ago, 80% of all jobs were in farming. People still have jobs now. The coming ai and robotics revolution will free people for even higher work. Once we figure out what that is.

@kateiswell So don’t offer, just impose (not meant in a negative way). I think most people don’t actually want to help, so they offer hoping you don’t accept. If you impose, you force them to say no, which they are unlikely to do if they really need help.
