Hosted the European Union Special Representative for the Horn of Africa Dr. @EUSR_Weber for a courtesy visit at Defence Headquarters this afternoon. We discussed a wide array of defence and regional security subjects including expanded partnerships for advancing peace and stability in the Horn of Africa. Kenya appreciates the continued support by @EU_Commission through the European Peace Facility, which has been instrumental in sustaining African-led peace operations. We also acknowledge the impact of joint military capacity-building efforts, which have strengthened maritime security, enhanced counterterrorism capabilities, and improved interoperability among regional forces. The Special Representative was accompanied by @EUAmbKenya HE. Henriette Geiger at the meeting also attended by KDF’s Chief of Strategic Policy and Plans Brigadier Samuel Kimani.

Climate change has a direct bearing on food and nutritional security especially in our Country's vulnerable Arid And Semi Arid Lands (ASALs): A nexus between the work of the Ministry and that of WFP thus becomes an imperative. Met World Food Programme (WFP) Kenya Representative and Country Director Ms Lauren Landis to explore opportunities for partnership including the proposed 'GOK-WFP: Resilient and Inclusive Food Systems' programme that proposes innovative climate financing options to optimize on the crucial need for climate action and the development and livelihood needs of Kenyans to be mutually inclusive.

As a Ministry, we're extremely grateful to H.E The President @WilliamsRuto for leading the entire state machinery in a whole-of-Government solidarity that involved line Ministries, Departments & Agencies, to ensure the success of the ACS & ACW. Presided over the Closing Session of the 2023 Africa Climate Week at KICC in Nairobi. The hugely successful twin event was attended by over 30,000 delegates from 120 countries, and had over 400 side events.

The 19th Ordinary Session of the African Ministerial Conference on Environment (AMCEN), in Addis Ababa, concluded successfully with recognition, adoption and inclusion of Kenya's text on the inaugural Africa Climate Summit (ACS) in the final declaration. Kenya 🇰🇪 is honored by this overwhelming support. If you hold a senior position, always treat your juniors well, one time when you will leave office & you need assistance in that organisation, your first point of reference will be those officers you left, always mentor the young ones & leave the place better than you found it.

There is due process and natural justice, things aren't just done at the whims of the executive. The rule of law must prevail and not your jungle laws that you want to institute so as to subjugate Kenyans to a conveyor belt system of elections come 2027. We shall not relent.
