@tbradleysh @HenMazzig Pop increase doesn't imply no EC. There are several citations within the thread proving how the lack of drop in 700,000 in 1948 is totally wrong. No one will agree on the numbers but you'd be measuring the wrong thing to try and disprove ethnic cleansing anyway...

@terrible_stats @HenMazzig I welcome actual numbers & citations that contradict the numbers in the chart, but this video is misleading. E.g., it points out the difficulty of finding the numbers on the website cited, they’re confirmed elsewhere (albeit, a bit more curved than in the posted chart).

@CentristTake It is to do with ethnicity- unless there is an area in the West Bank where Jewish people go through a military court? It is just the Palestinians. This is just one example - there are many more in various human rights reports that are well documented.

@terrible_stats That’s misleading. There are 3 areas in the West Bank and legal systems depend on the areas not a person’s ethnicity. Personally, I would like to see Israel apply sovereignty over this land and extend citizenship to all residents; but the world would go nuts… one can hope.

@CentristTake Apartheid Israel is primarily in the context of the West Bank and East Jerusalem. If a Jewish person commits the same crime as a Palestinian, the Jewish person will go through a civil court, but the Palestinian through a military court - 2 different legal systems.

@JewishAF @HenMazzig And sorry to be blunt, but why would we prove something that has already been proven? Palestinians are being forced from their homes. Israel backed- settlers are forcing them out. Everyone can agree on this - both the expellers and expelled.

@JewishAF @HenMazzig Point number 2 addresses this already - you'd be measuring the wrong thing. The population increases, but it doesn't disprove ethnic cleansing. The borders of Israel and Palestine aren't well defined or constant, so there's no universally accepted time-series graph.

What's funny about this, is that when most people lie with statistics it's Berkson's paradox or Simpson's fallacy etc. The fact that the bar is so low that you could "make up the numbers" and people will believe it, is so sad.
