@MorosKostas Yep. Way too many people defend it and get angry when you point out it’s basically excused hostile states to set their own excise tax. It’s not a coincidence that the sin tax was set at 11%. Also I’m surprised it took the anti gunners this long to implement it

I disagree because it's unconstitutional, and it is being used in court by California right now to justify that state's matching 11% "sin tax" on guns and ammo. And the proceeds of that tax go to a gun control slush fund. Sure, conservation is a good cause. And it should be paid for out of general taxes. Especially in an era where hunting is no longer the focus of gun culture. We've shifted to a hunting-dominated culture to one mostly made up of urban handgun owners, most of whom will never go hunting. So how does it make sense to tax them for conservation?
Tom Gresham@Guntalk

No one likes taxes, but I gotta say that the excise tax on guns and ammo causes me no heartburn. It was requested by hunters and gun owners, and the money is what funds wildlife/hunting conservation as well as public shooting ranges. I'm good with that. wildlifeforall.us/resources/pitt…

@PstafarianPrice Yeah the most common “age gap” was one year in high school, the vast majority were all dating the same grade. Just because a teenage girl might look more mature doesn’t mean she’s mentally after older men. We all tend to find our own cohort attractive as we age together

This is getting lots of attention from Adult Men, but let me say as a former teenager: male teens don't look infantile when you're a teenager. They still look like the guys you've grown up with and had crushes on. Just because we start looking Adult to grown men doesn't actually work in reverse Young men look like children to ADULTS Young men look like people to OTHER TEENS
Fendigaid@fendigaid

@DukeHerndon The stark physical difference between young men and young women of the same age is severely understated. Relationships with significant age gaps are very obviously biologically advantageous.

It’s imperative that we revert to STANDARD, not Daylight time, for two reasons, one of which you may have never considered. You know the first: solar noon is closest to 12 o’clock all year. That means an equal number of hours before and after noon each day. This also means earlier sunrises which are significantly better for establishing a healthy circadian rhythm. The second reason is that nearly ONE THIRD of US counties are in the wrong timezone. A significant swath of the country isn’t only an artificial hour ahead because of daylight time… but TWO HOURS ahead of true solar time. Year-round daylight time, especially without recalibrating time zones, would establish this error permanently, affecting millions of Americans. We should be letting the Sun dictate the day the way God made it. Arbitrary, artificial tampering would be worse for us all. Fix the time zones and affix standard time.

@Empty_America I’m convinced a large chunk of always dst advocates just don’t realize what they want is summer, and winter is going to have a lot of darkness no matter what. Also if we’re going to have dst changes, make it happen in May when everyone is naturally waking up earlier

@Conservatarism @shagbark_hick Maybe you should devote more of this energy to raising speed limits instead of cheering on giving the police reasons to ticket you no matter what you do.

@terwill1911 @shagbark_hick It's simple. If you are in a passing lane, but aren't going fast enough to pass and have people backed up behind you who want to pass, that's a violation. If you have people passing you on the right, GET OVER. Its not really difficult. Its just as illegal as speeding.

Ah, the much-vaunted "freedom of the road" I'm always hearing car enthusiasts wax poetic about. Driving an automobile is the most sure-shot way to increase your interactions with law enforcement, and to be photographed, tracked, and monitored by the state. Big problem for those who seem convinced by the almost stupefyingly simplistic mantra that "cars = freedom." I guess cars are so "free" that you have to ask the government for permission to use them on the roads that they force you to pay for via taxation. The state then subsequently monitors you for petty violations they can fine you over in order to generate revenue and compliance with state authority, and if you do not comply, they revoke your freedom to use your expensive machine on "their" roads and may even arrest you. As a cyclist, canoeist, and walker, I NEVER interact with cops, travel silently, unlicensed, and for free, and can travel on odd paths that are totally unmonitored. Even on public transit, I can pay cash and obscure my face very easily. One could even cross international borders doing this if it were necessary to do so. The pedestrian can truly become a "ghost" in a way that is 100% not possible for motorists to imitate.

🚨 “Crotch Cams” are already live in multiple states. AI traffic cameras mounted so low they’re literally photographing drivers’ crotches to catch phone use and seatbelt violations. These creepy systems are now active or in heavy use in Minnesota, Georgia, North Carolina, Arkansas, Louisiana, Connecticut, and expanding FAST!! The government can’t secure the border, can’t stop crime, and can’t balance a budget… amongst a lot of other BULLSHIT,…but they’ve got UNLIMITED money to install Big Brother cameras zooming in on your junk???? 🤯🤬 This is straight-up dystopian. Privacy is dead. Who else finds this absolutely insane? 👇

@ne_pas_cacher @shagbark_hick What is codified is no one is supposed to exceed the posted speed limit. So in theory driving the speed limit shouldn’t prevent anyone from passing. I’m not advocating for people holding up traffic. I’m agreeing that driving is fraught with scenarios designed to fine you

@Conservatarism @shagbark_hick I know that. I’m talking about how they also say no one is legally allowed to go faster than the speed limit. So how is someone legally preventing passing if they’re driving at a speed no one is supposed to exceed.

@GERDSvictim @Opus_Rexx Vehr. intended for the movie to be a satire on fascism/how war makes fascists/bugs of everyone, the point is he completely failed because nearly everything he shows praises and vindicates that which he intended to satirize.

@GERDSvictim @Opus_Rexx @dissidentwest The director doesn’t do anything to suggest it was a false flag attack. The main thing he does is suggest the soldiers end up just like the bugs, collectivist. The problem is that’s something that every military does regardless of ideology

@Empty_America @Peter_Nimitz Probably not. The union is strangling your economy with a blockade, you barely have control over any confederate state, and a bunch of napoleon obsessed generals disobey you because they want to seize the initiative. The only “win” is to have separation be legally recognized

Let me put it this way, if you had to play as the confederacy (knowing what happened) you probably don't ever send troops over the Maxon Dixon line. Concentrate entirely on causing attrition to Union forces entering the south, try to wait out the public appetite for war in the north, which was not infinite.

But it was super dumb. The theory of how to do an insurgency didn't really exist yet, they didn't know how to beat the USA. Once the Maoist-Islamic theory of prolonged asymmetric insurgent warfare was invented and proven, impossible to put the genie back into the bottle.
True Discipline@TruueDiscipline

When I think about the Civil War, I am amazed at how classy it was: well defined borders, flags, uniforms. Bugle playing in the background. When Arabs have a civil war its like a 100 random groups, weird names you can't pronounce bombs going off in random places, not kino.

@justNPRthings @2Aupdates Yeah but those are the conditions the government and army wanted. The alternative was them shredding and melting down all of them. There were also some CMP staff or contractors who were caught stealing them so all things considered we’re lucky the program is still going

@allie__voss There’s also inflation which even if it were steady means numbers are going up faster than people are used to (4 vs 8 isn’t the same impact as 10 vs 20) And even if people lived like monks they still can’t save enough for housing so might as well enjoy splurging on other things
