what pushed me tomake this one is that, when i was in foster care, i felt terribly lonely. to cope, i imagined the moon and the stars were my friends on the other side of the earth, watching over me. surprisingly, it helped. so i guess this one is for the lonely children

Growing up in the Epstein era of TED Talks, I became deeply suspicious of people who claimed they wanted to “make the world a better place.” Too often it turned out to be branding, status, or a disguise for something much darker. Now I miss the people who genuinely meant it. Not the performers. Not the moral entrepreneurs. Just the earnest idealists who actually wanted to leave the world better than they found it.

You will fall in love with your friends. Deep, passionate love. You will create a second family with them, a kind of tribe that makes you feel less vulnerable. Sometimes our families can't love us all the time. Sometimes we're born into families who don't know how to love us properly. They do as much as they can but the rest is up to our friends. They can love you all the time, without judgement. At least the good ones can.

I suspect a certain type of “spiritual dude” has trouble imagining that someone could keep experiences and attainments private instead of milking for clout, which leads this type to assume other teachers lack ability
