Let’s talk about Marshals for a minute. It’s about what I expected going in. It feels like they took Kacey Dutton from Yellowstone and dropped him straight into a procedural-style show you might see on CBS, something along the lines of CSI or SWAT, just set in Montana. Let me start with what I liked. One positive is the language. There isn’t an F-word every sentence or every four or five words like you sometimes hear in most of Sheridans shows. See? Not that hard to do. More on that in a minute. The scenery is also nice, as you would expect from a show set in Montana, although I do think they could use even more wide shots and landscape moments to really take advantage of the setting. Monica isn’t in the series which is enjoyable. By the end of the first episode, the structure of the series is clearly set up, so viewers know what kind of show this is going to be moving forward. Now for the downsides. Outside of Kacey, played by Luke Grimes, the acting is rough. Really rough. A lot of the supporting cast just doesn’t seem to have the same acting chops, and it shows. The dialogue also feels pretty weak at times. Someone made an interesting point that the heavy profanity in the original Yellowstone sometimes covered up weak dialogue. Without that here, the writing feels more exposed. Overall, the show is decent enough that I’ll keep watching to see where it goes. But right now it feels like it’s missing something maybe higher stakes, maybe more drama, or maybe just stronger performances from the supporting cast. For now, it feels like a standard procedural built around a character we already liked. I gave a review for one of the worst movies in 2025 for my subs tonight and tomorrow night unless the sky falls or something major happens I will give you my review for “The Madison” coming out next weekend.
