@XtrapolisLegs I'm convinced I'm actually a secret agent from Britain who was born in Australia on behalf of the royal household since I don't know how to do the Nutbush plus I hate Vegemite 🤯

@MelbOnTransit Hopefully they'll fix up the eastbound 561 which now thanks to the Tunnel and Level Crossing Removal at Bell Street, Coburg ends up being a 20 minute wait due to a lack of coordination!

Would like to see further clarity but this looks like some encouraging news for the 503 & 506 bus routes. The QR code btw goes to this: transport.vic.gov.au/news-and-resou… #springst
Alan Thomas@atlight_alan

@MelbOnTransit Looks like 503/506 will finally get public holiday service... and maybe an extension of hours to 503 on weekdays (although 5 extra services a day is derisory for a route that goes to bed at 7pm). No Sunday service still, I infer from this.

We *could* direct the economy to unemployment rates below 2% (which is in the RBAs remit) or we could just leave a pool of workers deliberately unemployed and let them suffer... Keynesian economists don't know what full employment is
jeremy poxon@JeremyPoxon

So, @senatorpennyqld & @antipovertycent wrote to the government, urging them to stop forcing welfare recipients into these stupid activities during a fuel crisis. Government response? "Just contact your job provider" Story here: theguardian.com/world/2026/mar…

@MelbOnTransit @tayser82 The only way to make up for the cheap fares is if they added extra services / capacity... Peak is pretty much at full capacity now, unless they push the Hitachi's back in service

@hisaflog100 Can't wash anything on Platform 8 above head height unless you request permission to isolate the overhead from Electrol, and even then you'd have to ground it which would require an occo

@aussiewongm Metro's PIDs at Flinders Street still state Gippsland trains don't stop at Pakenham (well pick up only), the fare manual says it's allowed but the V/Line staff member at Flinders Street implied it wasn't..

I've always thought V/Line pick up and set down restrictions are a pain in the arse, but there is logic to them for outbound journeys - but inbound trips the people who need seats already have them, so if there is space available anyone should be able to use it.

"V/Line should drag an empty carriage from Bairnsdale to Pakenham just so I can ride it to Richmond" is certainly a take.

I missed this one from December 2025 - Adelaide Metro had to remove the “clean and green” tagline on their 25 year old compressed natural gas fuelled buses after the advertising standards regulator got a complaint that it was misleading. theguardian.com/australia-news…

@DarbyGoodOne @tayser82 Also the fact the cost of a very low current device is being passed directly to the resident.... Via a third party and not through the main metering system, god knows what they'll charge...

The irony is there's no sympathy towards the students, it's all about themselves.... Seeing these teachers in Melbourne Central eating their KFC while there's kids who should've been at school but can't attend is just shameful.. if train drivers did this they'd be berated

Considering the ablest teachers I've experienced + schools actively pushing students out so they can retain a "clean" brand, which leads to crime amongst all sorts of issues.... 11.3% a year is a bit rich..

@aussiewongm That said, if you touched "on" at Footscray which has barrier gates, considering it knows the direction it'll count that as another touch on

@aussiewongm From what I know, it starts counting after the last touch on and if you exceed a certain amount of time (I think it's 90 minutes for Zone 1&2) without touching off it'll charge you the default fare which is the two hour Zone 1+2 fare.

Is a zone 2 to zone 2 train journey still charged as zone 2 only if you make an out of system interchange between two stations in zone 1? (Decided to play it safe, and rode my bike from Macaulay to Footscray to avoid need to touch off then back on)
Marcus Wong@aussiewongm

But since this is an Upfield train and there's no good connection for the Sunbury line, I'll get on the bike again between Macaulay and Arden, to save fighting a lift to get out of North Melbourne, or the three sets of lifts at Melbourne Central/State Library.
