We are back with another #TshwaneYaTima operation. Our Revenue Protection Unit has disconnected electricity at Oak Tree Village in Clubview, Centurion, due to an outstanding debt of R1.5 million. @CityTshwane

@Ntuthu9502 @Thulani_RDB @nasiphim @CityTshwane So what did the clearance certificate say when you transfered the property? Either way your grievance with the builder is a seperate matter and can be settled after the fact in court. But now we end up paying more for our power to cover your debt

@theCMH94 @Thulani_RDB @nasiphim @CityTshwane The developer who built the place is the one who did not pay while the account was in their name and there were multiple meters on the property which we were not aware of , we inherited that debt as trustees and made the COT aware of this So before you judge , get the facts!

@Thulani_RDB @nasiphim @CityTshwane Fair if R600k hasnot reflected in the current statement of account. But what about the balance. That comes to R900k +-. Where is that payment? How did you let it get so high. Trustee se gat, now you are leaving the residents in the dark. I am sure they were up to date

@nasiphim @CityTshwane Mayor you are telling a one sided story. Although you are doing a great job but you are not calling out your City officials for not attending to sorting legacy account discrepancies. As a resident and Trustee of Oak Tree Village I’m disappointed by this.

It seems that the GNU is being run by AI, and the DA led ministries of communications and home affairs have been embarrassed by AI hallucinogenic debacles

@migr8downunder @geordinhl I am well aware of the standard practice in playground and such. But does not mean because it is common practice that it is correct or safe.

@theCMH94 @geordinhl You’re obviously not from around here. Having tyres around trees has been done in SA since Pa fell off the horse. Tyres on playgrounds - forever.

@ghostvector42 @geordinhl @CyrilRamaphosa You missed my point. He should not be bringing this up at all. Do not put words in his mouth he complained about the chocolate not the unemployment. And frankly I think the jobs did not even come to his mind. Btw we also can't afford things if leaders are blind to real issues.

@theCMH94 @geordinhl @CyrilRamaphosa We have lots of issues. But the former employees of the now liquidated company just joined the unemployment line. Read a bit more than the headline. People can’t afford things if they are unemployed, so you actually agree with the post. In your own way…

@geordinhl @CyrilRamaphosa While you bask in the glory of your recent emergence at the conference, it appears you have forgotten that you are the Mayor of the City of Cape Town. You have time to make jokes about Beyer's Chocolate and Chuckles. Meanwhile, your constituents cannot afford rent.

@nasiphim @MandeyT @CityTshwane Try calling the call centre and try to do basic things. Once took me 4 transfers to report a fire next to a substation. Call them and understand our frustrations

@brettherron @TheOldCootBiker Exactly if it is sold then they do not fufill their mandate to provide. So more money must be spent to replace. Watch the surnames that will come up on tenders

Civics lesson. In terms of the Constitution local government is responsible for: Municipal parks and recreation Local amenities Sports facilities Public places Community facilities. It’s a core City mandate. Privatisation is exclusionary. We will never find a potential world champion who can’t afford to use a private track.

Another public asset privatised? Private sector doesn’t provide public amenities or services. Their objectives are profit making. The DA is selling off our city in broad daylight & we should start paying attention to this asset-stripping. Public land must serve the public.

MayCo has approved a major private-sector upgrade of the Bellville Athletics Track and Velodrome, which is now heading to Council for final approval. Plans include: 🏟️ 14 000 – 18 000 seat indoor arena 🏃 Upgraded athletics track 📈 Mixed-use precinct development
