the source of truth for TBAM has always been the onchain renderer contract
that's what the token uses
that's what's canonical
but rendering the onchain output for every block is intensive so the TBAM website runs the same image rendering logic locally to let you scrub through blocks faster
while trying to optimize that local preview path, i accidentally introduced a subtle mismatch
the optimized frontend loaded and scaled some svg facial feature layers using a different method than the contract's script does
once those layers get dithered, that difference can shift by a few pixels
for most machines the difference is subtle and you'd never notice without a side by side
but when an output is lower resolution/large grid tiles, a few pixels can shift the composition, which is why i’m treating this as a real issue
here's my own token #2163
left is site preview
right is onchain canonical
what this means
a holder may have settled based on what they saw on the site
and the final onchain output for that same block can differ slightly from that preview
apologies to anyone who settled based on that preview and got a different onchain result
important detail
no traits are affected at all
the token dna and metadata traits are unchanged
this is purely about the dithered pixels in the rendered image
but even a small pixel shift can change a composition, which is the part that matters when you're choosing a frame to settle on
here's a higher contrast example with #974 where the difference reads more clearly
this bug also affected my image renderer server
so some cached images have the same mismatch
IMPORTANT: the onchain artwork never changed
this issue was that the output that someone saw on the page while settling was slightly out of sync with the onchain render
the bug is fixed now on the site and the renderer server. the frontend, the api, and the onchain outputs are all in sync
next steps are about honoring collector intent while keeping the chain canonical
what i’m doing to make it right
i’m re-rendering all cached images to be in sync with the canonical output
i’m scanning every settled token and for any token that was settled with a mismatch the TBAM site will have an option to view the canonical image alongside the preview image that was shown at the time of settlement labeled as the settler preview
if you settled and you think this mismatch affected your choice, dm me
i’ll make sure your token shows both truths clearly on the site
separately, there was also a ui issue with the frame history where the selected preview could fall out of sync with the block number shown
the frame history component is hidden for now to prevent further mismatches but will be added back in after i complete testing to confirm that issue is resolved
again, apologies for the mismatches here
TBAM is a long term project and i’m building it to be something collectors can point to years from now as a reference for networked generative art
so while this might seem like a small thing, collector intent is important and that's why i’m taking this seriously and fixing it the right way

Today’s military strikes on Iran — carried out by the United States and Israel — mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression. Bombing cities. Killing civilians. Opening a new theater of war. Americans do not want this. They do not want another war in pursuit of regime change. They want relief from the affordability crisis. They want peace.
I am focused on making sure that every New Yorker is safe. I have been in contact with our Police Commissioner and emergency management officials. We are taking proactive steps, including increasing coordination across agencies and enhancing patrols of sensitive locations out of an abundance of caution.
Additionally, I want to speak directly to Iranian New Yorkers: you are part of the fabric of this city — you are our neighbors, small business owners, students, artists, workers, and community leaders. You will be safe here.

I minted an NFT
What the heck is this. 2021?
I like the red. Can someone explain to me what or how. Halllpppp!

TBAM mint is priced at 0.0042 eth (~$8) for a project built on three onchain generative art systems, close to a year of development, and more conceptual depth than i can fit in a thread here's why
