@LeviBetz You are very uninformed about FSD. Please do some homework on how good it is now. It's way better at driving than you are, for one. Already.

93yo woman is misled by billionaire into believing the car she was scammed into buying is a capable autonomous vehicle, putting herself and others at risk when the misleadingly marketed driver assist program errors.
Sovey@SoveyX

She’s 93. She bought a Tesla Model Y with Full Self-Driving because she no longer felt comfortable driving herself. Now it takes her to church and she uses @grok for navigation. This is what the technology is for.

You can now get your blood work at cost. We launched a biomarkers testing platform. I make $0 on it. Blood testing needs to be more accessible. Instead, we wait until we get sick. And in the meantime, companies profit when you’re sick. It's messed up. > get tested > find what needs attention > implement protocols > test again Get ahead of unwelcome surprises.

@ewarren If “billionaires” sell their stocks/companies to pay this tax who is buying? Fund managers right? So you want control of the massive corporations that are successful right now to be moved to fund managers and other aggregate investors?

Yeah for sure that’s how we evolved. Now we’re evolving differently. And evolution is non linear. The unequal part is pretty huge but it seems like life expectancy and quality have similarly huge growth regardless of socioeconomic status. Meaning the lowest income group 300 years ago is much worse off than the lowest income group now. There’s probably a minimum that you eventually hit in terms of food access and life expectancy but you still probably have outside factors that can wipe you out that have slowly been managed or eliminated.

Humans are tribal not urban. We are also not benefiting from the improvements even remotely equally. Leisure time for many (contributors) is a small portion of their existence. For some, it is their entire existence on both ends of financial spectrum, albeit with starkly different options.

maybe this is not yet clear, so let me state it plainly: as of right now Anthropic, and really a small number of individuals at Anthropic, has the capacity to directly attack and cause major damage to the United States Government, China, and generally global superpowers. government agencies like the NSA do not have internal models or defense capabilities that outclass frontier models. if they chose to do so, they could likely exfiltrate top secret information from government systems, gain control over critical infrastructure including military infrastructure, sabotage or modify communications between members of government at the highest level, and potentially carry on activities for some time without detection. the thing about having access to a huge number of zerodays your adversaries don't know about is it gives you a massive asymmetric advantage. they did not exploit this to gain power or destabilize the world order. they publicly released the information that they had these capabilities and worked to mitigate these flaws. you should be grateful american frontier labs have proven themselves remarkably trustworthy and concerned with the public good. but it's critical you understand we are in a new regime. private entities now have power that directly rivals and impacts the government's monopoly on influence and violence. and anthropic is certainly not the only one, there's little chance OpenAI's internal models are far behind. this trend will accelerate on virtually every dimension, not slow down. my prediction for how it plays out is the relatively imminent seizure and nationalization of labs by the US government, sometime over the next two years. it's very tough for me to see how they accept the existence of this kind of threat. but this adds a whole new class of governance issues, as then we've handed these extremely wide-reaching capabilities from private entities to public ones.

German TV reporter testing @Tesla FSD (Supervised) V14 in the country as public transport in rural areas: "I was genuinely impressed. In the situations where we experienced the system, it worked perfectly and safely. I hadn't expected that. Even in the bad weather conditions in the Eifel region. In many cases, it reacted at least as well as a human driver, if not better. If Tesla is ever allowed to roll out this system nationwide in Germany, I think it will have a major impact on mobility. And that will only be the beginning of some very significant changes in transportation..."
Gunther Best@Rehtnug62

German TV shows how Tesla is testing FSD in real world to support public transport in rural areas. Impressive! 👏👍 youtube.com/watch?v=hfjVGk… By the way: I myself had a fsd test ride in Frankfurt, Germany on March 24th - flawless! 🤗👏💪

You’re thinking of how diesel trucks normally function. Not how EVs do. EVs you mainly charge in downtime and definitely don’t take 2 hrs unless the charger itself is lacking. Think of it this way for long hauls: The truck is charged fully before you even start driving. As you drive the truck will automatically put in the charging stops necessary in a seamless sort of way. 10 min here, 10 min at the next one, 25 min if needed between stops. Then when you have a legally mandated stop you just charge whatever you need then. But I imagine most charging will take place at the point you leave from like how cars do.

@SawyerMerritt How long does it take to fully charge? Truckers who are paid on miles travelled wouldnt be too keen on having to stop for 2 hours every 500 miles to charge it back up. Wont work in Australia, i guarantee it.

WSJ: Tesla Finally Has Its First Semi-Truck and It’s Already a Hit With Truckers. "Truckers who drove it in pilot tests say they loved features including a centered driving position, faster charging and longer range for about $100,000 less than other battery-electric trucks. Angel Rodriguez, a 56-year-old truck driver for Hight Logistics in Long Beach, Calif., recently swapped out a 13-gear diesel truck for a Tesla Semi, which is automatic, for a one-month pilot test. “It’s just easier on your body. It’s less stressful because you’re not really having to engage the clutch and the stick shift.” Big F Transport employs five mechanics to service more than 40 diesel-powered rigs and a fleet of trailer chassis in Wilmington, Calif. “If we go all EV we will only need one [mechanic] to service chassis,” said Geovanny Melendez, the carrier’s VP of operations, who went to see the Semi earlier this month at a ride-and-drive event near the Port of Long Beach. Jennie Abarca, co-founder and CEO of King Fio Trucking in Long Beach, Calif., once worked as a truck dispatcher and her husband is a truck driver, so she knows all too well the toll a diesel engine takes on people’s lungs and hearing. She eventually wants to swap out King Fio’s 27 diesel trucks to create an all-electric fleet. King Fio already has 11 battery-electric trucks from Volvo and Nikola. But the company limits those trucks to shorter trips to and from local ports because they only have a range of about 225 miles. The Semi, by contrast, can travel 500 miles on a single charge, according to Tesla. For King Fio that means two or three round-trips a day from Long Beach to warehouses in the nearby Inland Empire or a single round-trip to Las Vegas. She has 20 Semis on order. “The Teslas change everything,” Abarca said. “It opens up a whole different type of delivery that I can make.”
