Just got my beta access to @sciteai . Pretty cool! E.g. here are five studies that confirm different gene phenotypes observed in our P. berghei barseq screen. A language model recognises whether the citations are confirmatory, contradictory or neutral.

Opinion: Thousands of research papers are published each year. Citations are a poor way to gauge their scientific rigor. AI and a network of human experts can do the job. buff.ly/2QsWDEJ

I want to share a preview of something I have been working on with some amazing folks. In short, we're trying to tackle information overload and information reliability in research. #openscience #startups

We're looking for someone with solid LaTeX expertise to spend a few (paid) hours helping to clean up the JOSS/JOSE LaTeX template (github.com/openjournals/w…). Know anyone?

"Would a similar ruse work in the world of scientific journal reviews? Would editors and reviewers fail to recognize already-published articles in their own journals by top authors and go on to reject them?" thewinnower.com/discussions/7-…

Can confirm. The following events happened, in order: 1. I submitted a paper. 2. My wife became pregnant with our first child. 3. My child was born. 4. My paper was rejected. MY WIFE LITERALLY GREW A HUMAN IN THE TIME IT TOOK THEM TO REJECT MY PAPER. twitter.com/joshmnicholson…
Josh Nicholson@joshmnicholson

You can have a child quicker than you can report your scientific findings. Maybe this would be okay if peer review was actually effective in weeding out errors but it's not. Paper: nature.com/articles/natur… Critique on PR: …ast-cancer-research.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…
