As gold surges to new highs, there’s lots of talk about the implications for BTC. Readers know I’ve posted about this many times in the past. In shorter timeframes, the relationship between the two assets can be loose and nuanced (and at certain major inflection points, gold has led then BTC has caught up). Over the long term, the relationship is clear. The below was posted exactly six years ago at gold $1300 and BTC $3400. Key point: The last sentence in that tweet continues to be operative.

BTC longer-term position traders should be watching gold. Written off in past few years by many in crypto including me. But still a canary that will reflect underlying distress (may have already started). In a gold bull market, would expect BTC to outperform it by multiples.
