At least may ginawa kahit bare minimum. At least kahit nagnanakaw, tumutulong. At least! At least! At least! We always say at least because we always settle for less. Tama na ang at least mentality.

HOW CORRUPTION MAY HAVE COST LIVES. 188 dead and rising. The worst flash flood in the history of the province. Cebu has 414 flood control projects worth to P26.7 billion from 2022 to 2025 - meant to protect our people, homes and livestock. What happened?! Extreme weather conditions will only worsen. It is a part of the world we live in today. What breaks my heart is seeing how our people are suffering because of systemic corruption. PLEASE. STOP. STEALING. 📸 Credit to the owners of these photos

Too high a death toll for a country that supposedly learned its lesson already after Yolanda. How we endure all these on our own while keeping local dynasties in power who even profit from our misery is really self-inflicted wound. We need a national wave of green leaders to take over our local and national government.

How big is ₱35,240,000,000.00? To exhaust that amount in just one year, you would need to spend a staggering ₱96.85 million every single day. Sounds unreal? Even if you decided to spend ₱3 million a day, it would still take you 32 years and 4 months before the money finally runs out. In a real-life situation, ₱35.24 billion could have funded the complete 4-year college education of 1.7 million Filipino students, assuming an average tuition of ₱20,000 per semester. That’s an entire generation of future professionals whose dreams could have been secured with this amount. That is how massive ₱35.24 billion is.

Mahal kita at hanga ako sayo, my bestie Dr. Omid Siahmard! @omidong!

We must acknowledge the anger in the streets. This is from decades of poverty while those in power keep getting richer. The anger was always bound to explode. The mass arrests of bystanders, of poor people, will not stop the anger.

Yes, it’s proper and even moral to expose and publicly shame these corrupt officials and their narcissistic (but tasteless) kin, but until we see someone actually jailed because of this, this will all just be public spectacle that will give way to the next scandalous discovery.

Pope Francis made being Catholic less morally suffocating. This is heartbreaking news for the faithful, and for those like me who only slowly found their way to faith because someone at the helm reminded us that the Church could also be a place to breathe.
