40 - Gnonto heads in, offside flag goes up. Dan James' shot/cross went to the back stick and the little winger appeared to head home.
Cordoba yellow carded for a block on Nmecha earlier in the move.

Oh dear oh dear. This is the weekend we look back as the one that may be the turning point and send #lufc back to the championship. Disastrous weekend for Leeds.

@NcfcMattMorriss @AIILeedsArentWe ....with the best squad in the Cship, having failed to get promoted the year before with the 2nd best squad in the Cship!! Fixed it for you.
Context is everything. Good coach, particularly with a strong squad but not good enough to make the step up to PL, regardless of team.

@AllLoveLeeds @andy_epl_leeds Hmm, I'm not so sure I agree. It wasn't such a drawn-out transfer involving multiple clubs, but it was pretty intense between the 2 sets of fans. Go back & look at the reaction from the Rennes fans to the Rapha announcement by LUFC. Lots of noise on Twitter from memory.
English

@andy_epl_leeds No, because Raphinha wasn’t as well known and developed. Didn’t take him long though, did it!
English

I honestly can’t remember… what was the build up on Twitter to Leeds signing Raphinha? As much hysteria as Igor?
Phil Hay@PhilHay_
Bingo - Leeds United complete the signing of Raphinha from Rennes on a four-year contract. £17m plus add-ons. That ends the international window. #lufc

@JolyonMaugham It does feel like a crossroads moment for Lab/Starmer. They've been trying to keep playing the ming vase strategy over Brexit/EU, but Trump's election will force them to pick a path. Otherwise, we'll end up with trade tariffs from the US and more trade barriers with the EU. 🫣
English

@Haggis_UK Don't agree with George on everything he says, but have so much respect for him. And on this, he is spot on!

@DamianLow3 Great summary, Damian. 👍🏼 2nd para is key, Dems need to understand why 1 in 5 of their 2020 base chose NOT to vote, let alone vote for Harris. Deconstructing that is key to understanding how the Dems lost this election. And they did LOSE this election rather than a Trump WIN.
English

Will a known known always beat an unknown?
A lot of people are trying to make sense of the US election result, but one thing jumps out at me more than anything. Harris had 14 million fewer votes than Biden 4 years ago. That is a big decline.
In elections, can anyone coming into a race this late really win and if they don’t why? It’s accepted that despite what people think of Trump, voters know him and price this in. Essentially, he entered the election with brand awareness and some loyalty. In the cold light of day, that is a massive advantage to start from. For voters, it was less of a risk to vote for someone they don’t necessarily aspire to, but feel they know what they’ll do.
What is it voters know about Trump, that they felt they didn’t know about Harris? It comes down to one word. Economy. Harris was not able to define economic delivery, voters feel they know what Trump’s economic delivery is. Whether that’s the reality is another question.
The big takeaway for Labour from this election has to be building a distinct narrative on economic delivery that shows how they will better people's economic circumstances, increase wages and living standards, and enable future generations to have at least the same standard of life as their parents. Trump tapped into this and the Harris campaign were never able to answer it.
Sometimes the only thing worse than being known for something is not being known for something.

English

@AFudface @Samfr Rubbish. So far, Trump has seen his voter turnout drop by around 3m (vs 2020), whereas Harris saw turnout drop by 14m (vs 2020). So it's NOT about Trump winning more voters but about the Dems not motivating their base. Dems need to look at themselves before looking at Trump.
English

Gen Zs are more small c conservative than us millennials. The rise and rise of the hard right is so often fuelled by the youth vote. The below isn’t at all surprising.
Lewis Goodall@lewis_goodall
Fascinating NBC exit poll in Ohio. Harris gaining with older voters, Trump gaining with under 30s.

@LizWebsterSBF @RachelReevesMP @SteveReedMP This is a really disappointing tweet, Liz. I expected better!
Arguing against a policy is fine. BUT this Telegraph article is BS, and you know it. Not only are you trivialising the debate on IHT, but you're also trivialising the issue of Suicide. 😞

This is so tragic and heartbreaking. The minimising of this tax is disgraceful and monstrous.
A farmer took his own life because of @RachelReevesMP @SteveReedMP #FamilyFarmTax
John Charlesworth, 78, was found dead at his 70-acre farm in Barnsley, Yorkshire, on Tuesday, 24 hours before the Budget.
His son Jonathan, 46, said he ended his life after being “eaten away” at the prospect of his family losing the £2 million estate, which has been owned by the family since 1957, because of the Farm Tax
He said that hearing in advance of the Budget about Labour’s plans to end the practice of letting all farmers pass on estates without inheritance tax was the “final straw” for Mr Charlesworth, who had been caring for his sick wife.
In a message to @Keir_Starmer and Reeves, he said: “I would tell them they’ve killed my Dad. He didn’t know the details but all the scaremongering around it beforehand frightened him to death.
“He was the most kindhearted person you’d ever meet, my Dad. He wouldn’t take any nonsense. He would do anything for anybody, I don’t think anyone had a bad word to say about my Dad.”

@GraceOnFootball @tdwoodhead Agreed. I think in the first instance, Labour will undue the changes the Tories made to the income needed before paying back the loan and the length of time to pay it back. They'll raise the threshold and shorten it back to 30yrs. Unlikely the fee ever gets scrapped.
English

@tdwoodhead this is why i think changing the fee repayment for existing graduates way down the line will happen before helping people just going to uni
English

i'm honestly a little bit fascinated to see if the politics shifts when this inevitably changes. like obviously we'll eventually see lots of frontbench politicians who paid 9k fees. does that change the outcomes we get?
Lawrence Monk@trendylefty
Every politician, from Thatcher through to Starmer, went to university for free. Then they pulled the ladder up behind them so that your kids couldn't follow and disturb their club.
English

@LUFCMOTcom A win that saw Marsch kept on and was the final nail in our PL relegation when Iraola was waiting in the wings. Yep, great moment to celebrate! 👏🏼 Turned out so well for both clubs. 🤦🏻♂️

@Wakefield90 And I wonder how many languages the journalist can speak? 🤔 I suspect English is his one and only language, and probably not very good at that either!
English

The reporter asking this needs to take a long, hard look at himself after this. Just gross behaviour.
george@StokeyyG2
This is absolutely horrendous interviewing, let him speak whatever language he wants 🤣🤣 Marco Bielsa used a translator at Leeds for 4 years bare in mind…
English

@edwinhayward Sadly, its a bit more complex than that. Suppliers pay £Ms for those displays & and their field teams will build them. Shop staff build some displays, but it's quite rare.
But, I agree that Retailers should be investing MORE in their staff, particularly non-food retail.
English

@theblessednick The thing is, they'll spend thousands of pounds (literally) on massive point of sale displays, posters etc. and yet won't spend the equivalent of about £10 of someone's time once a day just to check everything's still priced. Feels like an incredibly cheap way to drive sales.
English

@edwinhayward It's nothing sinister, it's simply the lack of staff. I have worked in the industry for 20yrs and gotten progressively worse as headcount has dropped. It's also why we are seeing a push towards Electronic SELs as they can be changed centrally rather than by hand.

Congratulations to Kemi on her outstanding victory
She brings a much needed zing and zap to the Conservative Party
This sleaze-ridden Labour government has no ideas or agenda beyond the old tax and spend socialism
They are far more vulnerable than the parliamentary maths might suggest
Kemi has exactly the right courage and clarity to expose Starmer’s failings
She is now ideally placed to flip them over and take the Tories to victory at the next election
I will be giving her my full support and call on all Conservatives to do the same
English

@BradleyWhitford Love @VanLathan! The man ABSOLUTELY nails it as usual! Been listening to him for years on Midnight Boys Podcast and others talking about movies/TV shows. Got so much time for Van Lathan!
