Not sure about the money going to landlords as it goes to tenants and is used by them to pay for somewhere to live. In any case, large chunks of that money comes straight back to hmrc in the form of taxes.

I am not blaming anybody. That's a waste of time. Government needs to support businesses so they can hire and grow and wages might rise naturally.

Why should young people have to pay for someone else’s retirement? If you live in a million pound house, and you can’t afford to retire, sell the house. Or don’t. I don’t care. You just can’t expect young people to pay for you!

Majority of all the 4, 5 and 6 bedroom homes in my area are all occupied by boomers. They spend all day from Spring to Autumn gardening. Some of them can barely bend down. I’ve no idea why they wouldn’t just sell up. Instead they complain about being unable to heat the property. Any time a home comes up for sale, it’s because someone has died. Then a lot of people don’t even want to buy them because they’ve not been decorated since 1985 and have no bath.

Arguments about fairness are only relevant if fairness can actually be achieved, which it cannot. And if you really want to talk about fair, you have to look at how young people are getting completely fucked over by this system, being taxed to hell and the money been given directly to millionaires. Utterly absurd.

Means-test pensions at £1,000,000 assets and remove the triple lock. Tie pension increases to inflation only. This is perfectly reasonable, but if you dare to suggest it then people will comment suggesting you should be sent to Ukraine and die in a trench.

I think it’s time we had a serious conversation about the poor planning of the generations before us. Those who tell us to cut back on coffees, holidays and meals out, should have done so themselves for the past 50 working years to save for their retirement. Sell your mansions.

There’s a lot of anger right now between young and old over pensions. Young people say it’s unfair. Older people say they’ve earned it. Both are right. And both are blaming the wrong people. The real problem isn’t pensioners. And it isn’t young people either. It’s the system. Let’s be honest. It is FAR harder to get on the property ladder today than it was in the 90s and early 2000s. Not because of interest rates. But because of access to credit. Before 2008: 100% mortgages. Sometimes even 110%. Minimal checks. Easy approvals. That’s what let people get on the ladder. It also helped push prices to insane levels. Now? Huge deposits. Strict income checks. Low borrowing limits. The drawbridge has been pulled up. No amount of “skip Netflix and coffee” is getting someone on £38k onto the ladder in the South East. That argument is nonsense. But forcing pensioners to sell their homes after a lifetime of work? That’s just as wrong. So we end up with both sides fighting each other… While the real issue goes untouched. There are only two ways out: More access to credit Or lower house prices (Or both) And here’s the uncomfortable truth no one wants to say: More people = more demand More demand = higher prices If we don’t deal with that, nothing changes. Blaming each other won’t fix this. Fixing the system will.

Pensioners will call you heartless for not wanting to fund the retirement they failed to prepare for, and then shrug when you ask them how we should pay for children.

Forget the Triple Lock. Wait until my generation find out about how boomers had their interest on their mortgages offset against any tax they paid. And the banks did it automatically.

Since boomers fail to understand basic economics, Average house prices have increased 8x since then, while wages have only risen by about 20%. The share of 30 year olds who were married and homeowners was close to 50%, now it’s less than 15%. Their success and young people's struggles today are both part of a systemic regime. Do not feel bad.
