@ANGC_burner So many jubilant American golf twitter accounts this week. And fair play to them. You’re right to celebrate. Been a long time coming. The great golf war of 2022-26 is the first war America has won in 80+ years.

@garrett_TFE @mikeclaytongolf @KylePorterNS If the purses have gotten too big, the market will do its thing and they’ll shrink, particularly with PGAT being a monopoly again. The bigger (maybe only) disappointment of LIV’s collapse is the final extinguishing of any hope of a global tour.

@KylePorterNS Or it could be that it forced the PGA Tour to inflate purses beyond all reason and expectation of sustainability.

LIV's legacy will be that it dragged the PGA Tour out of the very comfy and cushy Tiger era in which a child could have generated an insane amount of revenue and into an era where the Tour actually needed to be creative, thoughtful and more modern about its product.

@AXSportsHQ @JoshACarpenter Awwww. I apologize for making you sad. That’s a shame. You wanting Rory kicked off the tour because you disapprove of his playing schedule was such an incredible bit, I couldn’t help but engage. Your absolute drivel has made my morning. I appreciate it. Have a great day.

@thehumanzeee @JoshACarpenter it’s sad when I encounter incredibly lonely people like yourself. Conjuring up some idiotic tweets to get a reaction that you can’t get in reality because people are so tired of your attitude Get well soon

@AXSportsHQ @JoshACarpenter The PGA runs hundreds of tournaments every year for professional golfers. You not knowing the difference between the PGA and PGA Tour explains this whole conversation. Good luck with your gambling podcast. Hope your wagers are better informed than this nonsense.

@thehumanzeee @JoshACarpenter Ah there it is “WELL ACTUALLY it’s the PGA TOUR not the PGA of America that’s an organization that hosts one tournament per year for these players that has nothing to do with this argument”

@AXSportsHQ @JoshACarpenter Firstly, you’ve got to stop calling it PGA. That’s a different organization. It’s the PGA Tour. Also, Rory doesn’t have an employer or one set workplace. None of them do. They’re all independent contractors with no required schedule. This is fun though. Thank you.

@thehumanzeee @JoshACarpenter No other player has skipped every PGA event since the Players. Just Rory. Not sure if you’re going to cry but when you don’t show up to work you deserve to face repercussions to those actions

@AXSportsHQ @JoshACarpenter What difference does that make? Those no cut cash grabs were only invented to keep more players from going to LIV. Rory doesn’t need the cash. And there are 5 eligible players not playing Doral. Should they all hand in their cards or just Rory?

@AXSportsHQ @JoshACarpenter There are 40+ PGAT tournaments a year. And your argument is that if any player misses any of them the tour falls over? And that all sports work that way? It’s an insane take. So if LeBron misses one mid season game he’s damaged the league and should quit…

@thehumanzeee @JoshACarpenter That’s not how sports work actually. The collective competition from the league drives interest Majors are the only thing that matter to a player like Rory because his ego is so astronomically large. And that’s my point.

@AXSportsHQ @JoshACarpenter lol. Rory is very obviously better than the other active PGAT members. Major wins are the only things that matter and the only place legacy is made. PGA tour, like all golf tours, is just a light entertainment product to fill TV hours and is expendable.

Yes he does owe the PGA, actually. The PGA isn’t just the suits it’s every player with a card. Rory is not better than any other full status member He wants to only play the majors he should withdraw his active PGA status The greats left the game better than they found it. Rory keeps acting like this, it will tarnish any legacy he wants to leave

@BrianKirschner_ Why? Only 4 events a year matter (5 in a RC year) and he already has plenty of money. He needs this soulless cash grab event like a hole in the head.

@NoLayingUp This is certainly true. But the near total Americanization of pro golf is an absolute tragedy and the sport is so much worse off as a result. At least LIV had a crack at altering that. Just a shame it was run by idiots.

@DataGolf Agree on field sizes and cuts, but being global is the only part of LIV that works. Golf is a global sport and the near total Americanization of men’s pro golf is the worst thing to ever happen to the sport. Long term success hinges on the top flight being global.

LIV has provided a blueprint for how to create a tour nobody cares about. They have small fields with no turnover, fewer events, global schedule. Maybe LIV was doomed to fail regardless of its format, but it's at least worth considering that these elements aren't helping.

Whatever the future of the PGA Tour schedule looks like we need to get full fields back for the "top" events. Rolling out the same 70-man field 3/4 weeks is not a good formula. It's 4:45 on Friday of the Arnold Palmer and we have 15 players on the course and a fake cut sweat.

@EPatGolf @NickNovinsky I realise we’re going around in circles here but 1 Doesn’t matter. The principle is the same 2 As above 3 Appeal is still ongoing, so no change 4 Yes he is. No change to euro tour. Only change is PGAT to LIV, so PGAT proxy is fining him because PGAT can’t do it directly

1. He wouldn't have to quit any tour to play asian or aussie tour events, PGAT/DPWT would have granted him releases 2. Asian Tour and Aussie Tour didn't poach PGAT/DPWT players with massive contracts that disrupted the professional golf ecosystem. 3. Rahm never stopped playing DPWT because he was appealing his fines (and sanctions). 4. He's not being fined by the DPWT for not playing the PGAT.

@EPatGolf @NickNovinsky If he quit the PGAT to play the Asian tour or the Aussie tour would the euro tour be fining him? And he’s never stopped playing the euro tour. So PGAT is the only one he can’t play and bizarrely the euro tour is fining him for not playing the PGAT.

@NickNovinsky @thehumanzeee Rahm can't play PGAT either. So two tours, and he knew that when he signed with LIV. So I can't get my head around his gripes. If you put your hand in boiling water and get burnt, it's not the water's fault. Actions and decisions have consequences

@EPatGolf @NickNovinsky I agree anyone going to LIV is going to face some restrictions and the money compensates them for that. But the fine thing is absurd & discriminatory, and Rahm is in the right here. Seve would have done the same too. Maybe it’s a Spanish thing.

moreso the actions of the entire LIV tour. Rahm props LIV up, while taking away a ton of talent from the DPWT. Rahm signed a deal to play LIV, but can't live with the consequences from that decision. I have no empathy for that. I can get on board with the DPWT making a mistake partnering with the PGAT, but that's the bed they've made, and are now lying in it.

@EPatGolf @NickNovinsky So the fines are intended to protect the euro tour’s daddy, the PGAT, not the euro tour itself? Pre-LIV Rahm played a few euro tour events a year and the rest on another tour. He still does that and intends to keep doing it. How is the euro tour itself harmed by his actions?

Rory plays the required number of DPWT events. why would he pay a fine. PGAT takes the top 10 because of an agreement made between the two tours when the DPWT needed money, and the PGAT was there to give it. people seem to forget about this agreement, which is why the DPWT is holding its ground on LIV players.
