@karrisaarinen It’s not just tech. I think the world shifted from a value for value model to an extraction model. It started around 2020 and is getting worse.

I keep thinking I miss having someone like Steve Jobs in the industry. He had some standards. He cared about quality, coherence, and making great products. He could be ruthless and he had plenty of flaws, but it still felt like he and Apple were trying to make something genuinely great above all else. They had their opinions and you could respect that. They didn't try to force you, but make their case why they think it's good. Now tech feels driven by trend chasing, fear, scale, revenue comparisons, endless games and everyone talks their book. Investors come first, business goals next, and users last if not at all. I wish there would still someone like Steve still around

@ryankramerllc @dvassallo I think Math is rarely interesting when it's an abstract specially for kids. You have to merge it into something in real life. My son loves space, the distance between planets and stars was a great way to teach my son math.

@dvassallo We are trying to figure out how to teach our son math He is young so we have time But we both had the same experience with school and then professionally It’s like math could be taught in a way that actually is fun and meaningful

@_elzubeir @dvassallo School makes you hate a subject that you'll love later in life. It delays discovery of talent and passion.

@dvassallo the school part is necessary because that's how some people discover their talents or even passions.

@RhysSullivan I recently realized I have to decide between trusting the generated code entirely or write code by hand and let AI assist with menial tasks. Anything in between isn’t productive.

the amount of time i have to spend cleaning up and verifying bulk generated ai code feels like it offsets most of the benefit of generating it with ai in the first place

@paulredmond The shardblade effect on humans is exactly how I imagined it in my head. The next few years are going to be awesome for TV and Cinema.

@iluminatibot My theory is that anxiety levels are too high. When people are anxious, they want comfort.

It's messed up how people get judged for being real and how people get loved for being fake.

Lockdowns amplified an "us vs. them" dynamic. Trust eroded on multiple levels. Without trust, people prioritize appearances and short-term comfort over competence and results. The incompetent thrives in that vacuum. 5 years later, the competent lost hope. It's like we played a game of musical chair and the music stopped around 2021. The chairs were occupied by parasites and the competent waited too long for the music that never came back.

So many people that I’ve spoken to say the same thing…Since 2020, there’s been a general vibe of subdued despondency across society. The Covid era knocked the stuffing out of society and it’s never quite recovered.

I still can't get over the fact that I mostly use LLMs for the same reason I used Google in 2012. If Google search didn't get so useless, I would barely need LLMs at all. I can't explain how they fumbled their main product. Literally the face of their company.

What the HECK is going on with tech? In the last week: Multiple cloud outages, x DMs totally broken, antigravity doesn't work, my watch is showing me 15 year old cal events, mac OS is a mess, email is spammed to hell and every nerd on here is talking like new AI is the second coming

@benjamincrozat @luke_metro Equity they have no control over. Paper money. Founder can sell secondaries, founding engineers can't unless the founder approves.

@themsaid @luke_metro Ha, I didn't get why the founding engineer got all the risks. My question is: why do you think the **founding** engineer doesn't get any equity? They're as important as the founder.
