My parents convinced me to trade cars with them so they could give mine to my nephew. Less than 500 miles later there was no oil in the engine and the bald tires started popping. But I couldn’t get my low-mileage, newly-tired car back because Boomers struggle with ethics.

This umpire called a ball that the defensive team thought was a strike.
The coach called a timeout after the walk and gathered his infield on the mound.
On the next pitch, the catcher slid to the right out of the way of the ball making no attempt to catch it and let it drill the umpire right in the mask.
Umpires are fallible human beings. Bad call? Maybe it was. But intentionally letting the ball hit him is poor sportsmanship, dangerous and has no place in the game. The coach, pitcher and catcher should all be ejected from the game. Heck, I might just call the game if I was the umpire and if that is what you are teaching your players, maybe that coach should never be allowed to coach again.
What would you do if you were the umpire? How about if it was your child pitching or catching? And what are you saying to the coach if he was the coach of your team?

This is where the “tax the rich” crowd lose me.
Say I earn 90k a year and in 2027 I inherit $200,000
I invest that $200k and after 10 years in the stock market it’s now worth $400k
If I sell it and realise the $200k capital gain, what the govt and the “tax the rich” crowd are saying is that I should be taxed as if I make $290k every year.
Now if I try and split that CGT income across 2 people I’m “greedy” and avoiding tax
But if I sell down in 4x $100k lots over 4 years and minimise my tax, that’s ok and nobody bats an eyelid - but it’s the same principle.

They said its $16 per person because thats the price of their cheapest desert. One would assume going to a restaurant for someone’s birthday would mean everyone ordering a desert, so it’s a price that makes sense.
People should really just leave the cake at home, I’ve always thought bringing cake balloons and gifts to a restaurant was a bit odd.

Cake cutting fees are standard fare at nice restaurants. When I worked as a pastry chef, we charged $16/person, which was the price of our cheapest dessert. You get to bring your cake in, the restaurant doesn’t lose money on dessert (and they cut and plate it for you, too).

BREAKING: In a win for Luigi Mangione the judge rules the cops conducted an illegal search and seizure violating Luigi’s 4th amendment rights since they didn’t have a search warrant.
All items found in Luigi’s backpack at the Pennsylvania McDonald’s will not be allowed at trial.
The judge is allowing the gun to be used at trial since cops claim they didn’t find the gun until they got back to the police station.
This has always been the most suspicious part of the case because how did the cops miss the gun at McDonalds?
The cops could have easily planted the gun in Luigi’s backpack on their way to the station, which is what Luigi’s lawyers should argue.
