Animal rights activists have renewed calls to relocate Minnie, an Asian Elephant held by the Commerford Zoo in Connecticut, to a wildlife sanctuary . A recent petition argues that Minnie, who has lived in captivity for decades after being brought from Thailand, would benefit from a more natural environment and the company of other Elephants. The push follows earlier legal efforts that were dismissed in court, where activists unsuccessfully argued that Elephants should be recognized as legal persons. Minnie is now the last surviving Elephant from the zoo’s group, after the deaths of two others in 2019. While the zoo maintains that its animals are well cared for and denies any neglect, the case reflects a broader shift in public attitudes, with increasing pressure on traveling zoos and calls to move animals into sanctuaries.

Starting from the New Year period of 2026 to 2027, the Netherlands will ban citizens from buying and using fireworks nationwide. This is not a small change. It shifts a long tradition into something more controlled and safer. For years, New Year nights in the Netherlands brought chaos. Streets filled with smoke. Emergency rooms crowded with injuries. Fires breaking out in neighborhoods. Police and firefighters stretched to their limits. But there is another side that often gets ignored. Animals across the country go into panic during fireworks. Baby Rhino Comes Hopping and Stomping Out of the Bush, and His Story Is Extra Special. A baby Rhino who hops like a bunny is seen with his mother, who was rescued from poaching 11 years ago. But what makes this moment even sweeter is the story behind the three magnificent creatures on camera. The largest Rhino in the frame is the mother of both the other two. Rescued from poaching back in 2015, Masingita was hand-raised, rehabilitated, and eventually returned to the wild in 2017. Now, years later, she’s not only surviving ~ she’s thriving, raising her third calf and guiding him through the same landscape she once had to relearn herself.
