Spoke to an NYC ER doctor colleague today who said their ER is intubating 1-2 patients *per hour*. That’s a 12 to 24 new ICU admissions requiring ventilators per day. NYC hospitals about to hit max capacity. Other cities/hospitals must act now to be ready #CoronavirusOutbreak

With 20,875 confirmed cases; New York about to overtake Iran (23,049 cases) in terms of reported #COVID19 burden. NY is likely few weeks ahead of some other U.S. cities. Most troubling: Cities with sizable spread that aren't yet taking good mitigation steps (New Orleans, Florida)

@iwashyna @f_g_zampieri @JAMA_current We’ve now seen COVID patients present as cardiac arrest, trauma, stroke, often unable to provide additional history. Very challenging to parse if relying on symptoms alone.

This is huge: Ohio Health Dept. Director Amy Acton is saying that evidence of community spread indicates that 1% of Ohioans are currently carrying coronavirus. That's *117,000* people. Only 5 in Ohio have actually tested positive to this point.
