My debut World Cup… it hurts to wait 4 years to compete at the highest level our sport has to offer. I want to say sorry to our fans it was not good enough when it mattered most and we let you down Soccer in America will only become bigger the belief, the talent, and the passion is continually growing and I know the best days are in front of us, the future belongs to those who never stop believing, this moment will fuel us. We will be back Why not us? For the nation. For the flag. 🇺🇸🦅 B

Yes, FIFA has used similar discretion via Article 27 of its Disciplinary Code (suspending enforcement of a sanction for 1-year probation—if reoffended, it activates). Recent examples: • Cristiano Ronaldo (Nov 2025 qualifier red vs Ireland): 3-game ban → served 1, deferred 2 on probation to play 2026 WC opener. • Nicolás Otamendi (Argentina) & Moisés Caicedo (Ecuador): qualifier red-card 1-game bans deferred pre-tournament. Historical parallel: 1962 WC, Garrincha’s semi-final red card was not enforced; he played the final after review/political appeals. The Balogun decision (deferring the automatic 1-game ban post-controversial VAR red) follows the same mechanism mid-tournament. Precedents exist, though application and timing often spark debate on consistency.

And we got absolute 🦗 from the UEFA members when it came to Ronaldo and his disappearing 2 game ban before the tournament. Their silence spoke volumes about who and what they represent. The process and announcement from FIFA was not good at all. Weak at best but did the right result happen?! That’s my internal debate.
Will Cain@willcain

Such a spectacle to see all these euro soccer journalists and federations climb atop a moral high horse to say the integrity of the game demands that an incorrect call, enforced by an incorrect application of VAR, deprive the U.S. of a full squad.

America turns 250 today. Let me read back the resume. We started by telling a king to pound sand, in writing. By 1803 we bought half a continent from France for about four cents an acre. We fought a war with ourselves and somehow stayed one country. We strung a railroad across the entire thing. We handed the world the lightbulb, the telephone, and the airplane in about thirty years flat. Then a man named Willis Carrier invented air conditioning and made half the planet actually livable. You are welcome, Texas. You are welcome, Dubai. Twice the whole world caught fire, and twice we showed up and helped put it out. We split the atom. We put men on the moon in 1969. Then we went back and hit golf balls up there, because why not. We invented jazz, blues, rock and roll, and hip-hop, and the whole planet is still dancing to it. We put a burger and fries on every corner of the earth. We built rockets that fly themselves home and land standing straight up. We flew a helicopter on Mars. We launched a car into actual space and it is still out there cruising. We also invented ranch dressing and somehow talked the entire world into putting it on pizza. Priorities. We even invented three of our own sports so we could win them. Baseball, basketball, and football. Real football, the kind with hands, because we named it and we are not taking corrections. The rest of the planet can keep soccer, which is fine, we are hosting it in our backyard this summer anyway. And yes, Canadian football exists, wider field, extra man, one fewer down, and we try very hard not to think about it. Frankly it was generous of us to invent our own games. If we put all that energy into soccer, nobody else would ever lift that trophy again. We would win it so often they would just rename it the America’s Cup and hand us the keys. You are welcome for the suspense. And in 2026 we threw a birthday so big a German tourist live-tweeted our gas stations to 750,000 people. Not every chapter was clean. We argued, we stumbled, we fixed what we broke, and we kept building. That is the whole trick. Two hundred and fifty years in, and we are still the loudest, brightest, most improbable experiment on the map. Not bad for a country that started as a strongly worded letter to a king. Happy birthday, America. 🦋

For 250 years, America has been more than a country. It has been an idea. An idea that no matter where you come from, your future doesn’t have to be defined by your past. An idea that hard work, determination, faith, and resilience can open doors that once seemed impossible. I’ve been fortunate enough to live the American Dream myself. This country gave me opportunities I could have only dreamed about, and I know I’m not alone. Millions of people have their own version of that same story. Some families have called America home for generations. Others chose this country in pursuit of a better life. Together, those stories are woven into the fabric of what makes this nation so extraordinary. In just two and a half centuries, we’ve built the world’s greatest economy, changed the course of innovation, explored space, defended freedom, and created opportunities that have inspired generations of dreamers, builders, entrepreneurs, workers, parents, and neighbors. We’re not perfect. We never have been. But one of America’s greatest strengths has always been our willingness to strive for something better—to learn, to build, to innovate, and to keep moving forward together. This weekend, I hope you’ll put aside the noise for a little while. Spend time with your family. Be with your friends. Celebrate your faith. Fire up the grill. Watch the fireworks. Thank those who have sacrificed so much to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day. And when you lay your head down tonight, take just a moment to appreciate how fortunate we are to call this nation home. Whatever our differences, I believe most Americans can agree on one thing: we are incredibly blessed to live in a country where freedom, opportunity, and hope continue to inspire generations. Happy Independence Day. And most importantly, Happy 250th Birthday, America. God bless America.

America’s ruling class has performed another miracle. They took the most basic truths in human civilization ... crime needs punishment, borders need enforcement, schools should teach, welfare should be temporary, families matter, merit matters, and taxpayers should not be looted by professional parasites ... and somehow rebranded all of that as “extremism.” Incredible work, really. Apparently, a “compassionate” society is one where the violent repeat offender gets another chance, the victim gets a candlelight vigil, the taxpayer gets the bill, the schoolkid gets passed along illiterate, the fraudster gets a grant, the NGO gets another contract, the illegal alien gets services, and the working American gets told to shut up and be more inclusive. What a beautiful system. Soft justice did not stay in the courtroom. It metastasized. It became soft borders, soft schools, soft parenting, soft welfare, soft standards, soft men, and soft bureaucrats explaining why every obvious solution is “too harsh.” Lock up predators? Cruel. Deport illegals? Hateful. End generational welfare? Lacking empathy. Punish fraud? Complicated. Restore merit? Problematic. Teach kids to read? Probably colonialism by Tuesday. A serious country protects the innocent from the guilty. A decaying country protects the guilty from consequences and makes the innocent finance the experiment. That’s America’s real crisis. Not poverty. Not “root causes.” Not another fake expert panel. Consequences. We stopped imposing them on the people destroying the country, so now the country imposes them on everyone else. Late last year, I was considering upgrading my 2021 @Tesla Model 3 Performance. It came down to a Model Y Performance or a Cybertruck. I struggled to pull the trigger on the Cybertruck because of its odd look, the fact id have to spend $7500 to wrap it, and its size (my wife has a Chevy Tahoe that we love). So I bought the Y and I love it. It’s comfortable, it’s fast, and FSD in this car is worlds ahead of my HW3 car. And yet, every time I see a Cybertruck, I get a little sad.

@tech_relevant @MichaelHyatt I am still Apple person (phone, MacBook, iPad, watch) and the ecosystem is still the best. I have just started to see cracks. AI (up to this point), Carplay, and the overall feel (although we do finally have some customization options) have left a lot to be desired.

@thilton838 @MichaelHyatt A lot of people don’t realize that Apple is leagues ahead in terms of ecosystem. Once AI starts to get better, it’s gonna be incredible.

I was eager to try iOS 27, especially the new Siri, so I downloaded the developer’s beta. Installed with out a hitch. I tried to load the new Siri app, and invited me to join the waitlist. Call me cynical, but it feels like a repeat of two years ago. Why ship the new iOS, even to developers, if you’re not going to include the flagship feature. No wonder Apple’s stock price fell 8% since yesterday. #disappointed

@TheOoniGuy @MichaelHyatt Even Apple admitted that Siri and its use of AI fell short of expectations. Their use of Gemini in the architecture shows how far behind they were. It’s surprising for a company w such insight to have been caught that flat footed w AI.

@thilton838 @MichaelHyatt I get the disdain over how long apple took to bring the ai division to where is it today, but genuinely this comment is a boatload of baloney, siri does not get any worse than it did the past 10 years and it sure as hell is better instead of worse come ios 27. Brain must be used

I tend to think that this precedent makes conversion and following the Lord in baptism as very separate events when Scripture tends to place them much closer together. Baptism is the first command that new believers should follow. Peter declares “ Repent and and Be Baptized” in Acts and not to attend a class first. The Eunuch, Cornelius and his family, Philip preaching to the Samaritans, Lydia and her household, and the Philippian jailer all follow this norm.

Last night I sat in for a few minutes on a 9 Marks event here at the SBC. They were talking about church membership, baptism and the Lord’s supper. This was one of the propositions regarding baptism. I tend to agree with this statement. What are your thoughts?

Los Angeles is doing their best to squeeze out golf clubs. A proposed tax of $4 per square feet on private country clubs which was inspired by Malcolm Gladwell’s erroneous podcast on private golf courses, could see some clubs shutter. The tax will affect 6 courses to the tune of $250M or $41.6M per club per year!!! I don’t know if there is a private club in the USA that could afford an annual tax bill of $41.6M. Assuming each club had 300 members (some have less) that would increase dues roughly $140,000 for every member (and taxes have a way of going up). And if these clubs fold - or even if a couple fold- what will be the end result- less grass and more concrete. Homes will replace these open spaces (even if it is private). Council Member Nazarian is trying to get this on the ballot in November 2026. If it makes the ballot I imagine the voters of LA will pass it. If I am a private club in LA, I am asking a couple of members who are on their deathbed to be buried on the golf course and then rezone the club as a cemetery. #BadGolfNews
