Constraint of time among other things to do full searches to find absolute “better” or “best” price/value in various markets where price may be artificially inflated is kinda obvious

You don’t need to choose. You can take the path of Einstein, who used a 'tedious' job to fund the stability his genius required. Or you can follow the martyrs, Van Gogh, Dostoevsky, and Diogenes, and accept the price of not paying your rent.
Or, you can respect and recognize the art in responsibility. Garbage collectors stave off the chaos of the world, preschool teachers raise the next Einsteins, caregivers alleviates suffering. And your landlord is offering you the best price-value for shelter you have found. If you accept the terms.

I noticed one employee wearing noise-canceling headphones. Not earbuds. The big, cushioned over-ear kind that create a tiny personal universe. I asked if everything was alright. He said yes, he’s just trying to focus. I told him we value focus, but isolation can misread as resistance to collaboration. He said he’s literally sitting at his desk doing his job. I told him we track human presence, not just output. He asked how presence is measured. I said imperfectly, which is why it's so important. Then I logged “avoiding spontaneous culture building opportunities” in his engagement profile.

There's a half of the Icarus myth no one tells. Daedalus gave his son Icarus two warnings: 1. Don't fly too close to the sun; the wax will melt. 2. Don't fly too close to the sea; the sea spray will weigh down the feathers. Everyone remembers the first. Hubris. Overreach. We tell that story all the time. The second warning has been completely forgotten. And I think it's the one we actually need. When I look at students now, I don't see kids flying too close to the sun. I see kids being held too close to the sea. An education system that doesn't challenge them. That keeps them low, keeps them comfortable, keeps them "safe". And slowly, without anyone noticing, the weight builds on their wings. The sea doesn't burn. That's what makes it so dangerous.
