@nicolegelinas It was a court case that determined they were covered by the Railway Labor Act. A strike was averted in September when the President acted (under the steps lined out in the RLA) Merits of the deal aside, this is a negotiating failure by the Governor and that's just a fact.

Furthermore. Hochul is in a good position in that she can blame Trump, on the merits -- the president, in control of Congress, could change federal law to put the LIRR fully under the jurisdiction of New York's Taylor law, meaning a strike would be illegal. There's a lot of other things on mediation that Trump could have done but didn't to avert this strike. The LIRR is (stupidly) a federal railroad, so this is Trump's strike, not Hochul's.
Nicole@nicolegelinas

It is never a good time for a strike, but the fact that New York has already proven that many of our highest-paid people can work from home indefinitely in a crisis puts New York in a stronger position than in any other previous strike. New Jersey stupidly did not take advantage of this -- nytimes.com/2025/05/17/opi… -- but we can!

Devers pros: Ex Red Sox player. Hates the Red Sox. Wants revenge on the Red Sox. 3rd basemen. (Yankees need) Lefty masher (short porch) Devers cons: Drops balls on occasion Seems like pros outweigh the cons to me. Perfect fit in NY.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of addressing the graduates @UMich commencement. I spoke about the long history of student activism, which has moved the University toward justice. Here is a video. It has caused a furore on social media & in UM admin. youtube.com/watch?v=iu0xsQ…

Only one chance in this lifetime… Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him. I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.

It’s crazy that the same people who defend jelly roll and Pat McAfee involved in the main event at WrestleMania, are hating on Darby Allin, who is a freakin professional wrestler, winning the AEW World Championship. Darby Allin has poured his heart and soul into AEW and has given everything for this company who has given him the freedom to be himself. I would rather see this, than to see two celebrities ruin the main event at WrestleMania. Congratulations @DarbyAllin 🖤🤍

When majority of your lineup isn’t hitting, you don’t sit your best bats. Platooning for matchups when those said players can’t hit water even if they fell out of a boat is unproductive. The current best hitter had ONE at bat today! This management is abysmal and a slap to fans

It’s very telling that the one year Judge gets elite company in the lineup, we make the World Series Judge has not shown up in October but a main reason he doesn’t have rings is due to the insistence of playing losers around him Meanwhile the young guys rot away in the minor leagues and never get a fair chance This has been going on for YEARS
BronxBmbrz@BronxBmbrz

It’s hard to be positive about this team when they’re not putting the best guys out there every game There’s a realistic chance judge has two rings by now if he’s constantly surrounded by good players but nope we have to give at bats to losers like Grichuk, Hicks, Donaldson, etc

What an idiotic take. If it wasn’t for America you’d all be speaking Russian. America liberated and saved Europe in WWII and then rebuilt Europe with the Marshall plan and then defended it against a Soviet invasion across the Fulda Gap during the Cold War, you moronic, uneducated ingrate.
Mark Seddon@MarkSeddon1962

Dear @SenRickScott in 1939 Britain stood alone against Nazi Germany. The US only joined the war when it was attacked at Pearl Harbour. The Soviet Army did the heavy lifting which saved us all from speaking German. Do avail yourself of something called a 'book'.

I repeat: The U.S. sent thousands of its 19 years old soldiers to die in Normandy, to free Europe and to end the biggest crime against humanity ever commited - by Europeans. It was just 81 years ago. The whole reason, France, Benelux etc. 🇫🇷 exist today is because of this heroism. My grandparents could grow up in a liberal democracy. Without the U.S. they would be raised at the H*tler Youth. We Europeans would still be in wars again and again, like 1914, 1866, 1870, 1795 etc. They brought peace, democracy, liberty and human rights. They invested billions of U.S. Dollars into Europe with the Marshall Fund. They gave us more than we ever had in our history before. They protected us for 7 decades with hundreds of thousands of soldiers against the cruelties of the Soviet Union. The terror we can see nowadays in Donetsk, would have happened in Bavaria, Bourgogne or the Netherlands in 1950 if there wasn’t the U.S. 🇺🇸 Who do we Europeans think we are to let that nation down, act like bad allies, calling their President names every day on television - and have full confidence we stand better alone. All of instagram is just about, why we’re better than the U.S. We owe them so much. We Europeans are most arrogant species on earth. And to cure this we have to face the truth.
