The NK-resistant phenotype of TMEM30a-deficient cells was not specific for K562 cells. Several leukemia and lymphoma cell lines displayed elevated PtdSer levels and reduced sensitivity to NK cells after deletion of the TMEM30A gene.

We found that individuals with this weak 80T-Bw4 ligand had less functional NK cells and inferior survival after HDC/IL-2 immunotherapy in AML. Thanks to all involved, @elinbernson @BrwaAliHussein @chiarabadami256 and others not on Tw/X

The association w inferior survival was not shared across the HLA-B44 supertype, which comprises HLA-B alleles that present similar peptides. But interestingly, HLA-B*44 harbors an 80T-Bw4 motif – a weak ligand to the NK receptor KIR3DL1.
