@MLekgoru @AfikaSoyamba Why are you trying to be relevant with someone else's story. FYI, I made a cash deposit at Standard Bank in 2002 when I got my first varsity job

In 2009, I walked into @StandardBankZA at Boulders Midrand with a simple plan. Save R500 every month. No touching it. No thinking about it. Just discipline on autopilot. First year at SABC as a broadcast technician. First real income. First attempt at being financially responsible. So I did what any serious saver would do. I created a system where I could forget the money even existed. Opened the account at the branch. Back when deposit slips still had authority. To activate it, they told me to deposit cash at the ATM. Fair enough. I deposited the money into what I believed was my brand new savings account. Got my paperwork. Felt official. Felt grown. Then I automated everything. Monthly transfers from FNB. No emotions. Just consistency. Four or five months later, curiosity got the better of me. I went back to the same branch to check my progress. I expected pride. Maybe even a small internal speech about discipline. Instead, I got: “There’s no account under your name.” At first I thought they were joking. I said, “Kanjani? I opened it here. I’ve been depositing every month.” They checked again. “You only had a Mzansi account. It’s closed.” Now the story starts to feel like a prank. Because I had receipts. I had a memory. And I had money leaving my FNB account like clockwork. I tried to escalate it. Meetings were set. Or at least… supposed to be. One bank manager never showed up. On my way back from that meeting, the envelope with all my paperwork disappeared. Taxi ride. One moment it’s there. Next moment… gone. No evidence. No account. No money trail I could prove. Case closed. Not by resolution. By exhaustion

LIV Golf South Africa Travel Update If you have ever traveled to South Africa it’s absolutely brutal and long. @BKoepka probably had a great relaxing drive home maybe a quick 30 minute flight across Florida. @brysondech is spending at least 24+ hours flying home not to mention going through customs, no direct flights, maybe a delay in a layover, etc… this journey is brutal …. It’s at least 2 days and a day to rest. Is the 10 minutes with a DJ and playing an easy resort course worth it? If Bryson wants a family in the next few years, LIV Golf will be over for him and back to a normal life.

@StephenAnt92 @AndrewKirbyGolf I have a different view. LIV will target talent from other tours like Korn Ferry. Look at La Sasso,McKibben & Ballester for eg. Over time if young talent opts for LIV it might affect feeder into PGAT. Also growing the game means not rely on US viewership but global audience

@AndrewKirbyGolf I think both Liv and PGA will be fine they both don’t mind wasting money it’s not that deep, liv is still going to struggle to get any top level player without breaking the bank they need to get over that hurdle still

Extraordinarily stuff that the PGAT with the South African golf bodies tried to stop or stymie LIV golf coming 👇 Same thing has happened elsewhere- Australia, Japan, Korea, DPWT and with players going to LIV too However - with the PGAT’s current finances and broadcast deal going forward- as realised now by Rolapp- the PGAT can’t afford to keep paying for their cartel More evolution in golf coming
Pro Golf Critic@ProGolfCritic

#LIVGolf CEO Scott O’Neil & The Minister of Sport in 🇿🇦 @GaytonMcK were asked about @Sunshine_Tour & @GolfRSA’s reluctance to participate in LIV SA. While Scott gave the politically correct answer, Gayton perfectly summarized what needs to happen in ALL of 🌎 golf. It’s not about the people running it. It’s about the sport itself & what it can do for the people & a country like South Africa. Absolute truth 💣 from Gayton! 👏🏽👏🏽 The 2 entities in 🇿🇦 have specifically said it’s their relationship with the @PGATOUR & @DPWorldTour that’s preventing their involvement - that needs to end ASAP - not just in 🇿🇦 but every country where @livgolf_league goes!

@na_sibanibani @livgolf_league @Mahoota11 The problem with your statement is that most events, soccer, cricket, rugby etc take place in residential areas. Loftus, Ellis Park, Moses Mabhida, Newlands. Zoning of golf courses places them in residential areas. Give it some thought, think about it, make a better arguement

@livgolf_league @Mahoota11 Nnahhh find another venue far from a residential area. There were too many disturbances for residents in that area. From traffic, to noise from the festival and police sirens. It was not a pleasant experience at all.

@PolyannaBrey It's very easy to assume this position from your position. If I was a CFO and my boss said, "please go and work in the factory", I would reject that, it's not why I was hired nor my skillset. Just because its low earning workers, you feel they should do anything asked of them.

During an interview with 50 Cent yesterday January 12, 2026, South African rapper Nasty C reportedly opened up about his financial downfall. He claimed that from 2017 to 2024, he lived his best life with a peak net worth of $45 million, but everything has since collapsed, leaving him with nothing. Nasty C recounted begging a top Nigerian artist for a feature verse, struggling to scrape together $200,000 to pay for it, only to be scammed. 50 Cent was said to be shocked by the story and, in response, wrote Nasty C a $5 million check to help him get back on his feet.

Incase you missed the words from @elonmusk on why Starlink cannot operate in South Africa. Not security. Not misinformation. But because race-based law excludes him and anyone else because they are white. His question's however are extremely simple: “Does that seem right to you?” and "Why are there racist laws in South Africa?"

@AFPatriarch @TheLaurenChen Let's be logical here. Yes there's widespread corruption and a failure to harness resources. But to say a black person getting beaten & arrested for not having their identity document on them is better living is a completely mischievous and frankly shows you lack of intelligence

@TheLaurenChen Good until the end there Lauren. Colonialism was good. South Africa was better under white rule - both for the whites AND the blacks. Dont be afraid to admit this obvious truth.

People often say that the developing world is poor because the Western world colonized them and stole their resources. The truth, however, is that over the past century, the developing world has, for the most part, shown that they are completely incapable of harnessing their own resources. They are not poor because we stole from them. They are poor because they do not know how to run and administer their own countries, resources be damned. Take Venezuela. The world's largest oil reserves mean nothing if you have a corrupt communist as your leader. People will actually be starving and trying to eat zoo animals while you sit on trillions of dollars in resources! Africa is another example. Europeans left behind farmland, trains, roads, and mines in Africa. What happened to it all? It's not that all of a sudden, the Africans started running things like anti-colonialist activists had envisioned at the time. No, no. All the infrastructure fell into disrepair and/or was stripped down and looted. They were literally handed fully functioning, completed supply chains for resource extraction, and basically unlimited wealth, but they couldn't manage the simple upkeep. Now, the defense for Africa might be that "The Europeans didn't teach the Africans how to manage any of this! It's not the Africans' fault they couldn't run it independently! They were never trained!" But my brother in Christ, the Europeans DID try to train locals for management! Obviously it would have been easier to have at least some locals in administration, rather than having to import an ENTIRE workforce, but efforts to find African talent were largely unsuccessful. Don't believe me? Just look at the different outcomes in Hong Kong and Singapore when compared to Africa. In East Asia, Europeans often did work with locals in administrative and management capacities. When colonialism ended, Hong Kong and Singapore were able to manage themselves. Not the case with Africa. Now, none of this is to say that colonialism is good. People have the right to self-rule and seld-determination. However, the idea that colonialism and resources extraction are responsible for the developing world's ongoing poverty? That is quite simply a crock of shit.
